DLH could have made a much bigger deal about the rabbit punching in dlh/mosley 1. Imagine if he were Hopkins, he'd still be dead.
Santana vs Norris......classic example of Milking, though Norris forgave him and said that Santana did what Santana had to do to get himself another pay day. Vargas vs Tito....good example of not-milking:-Vargas could have taken the full 5 minutes, but got on with it after around 1 minute....
In the rubber match with Bowe, Holyfield was exhausted, suffering from HGH-itis, and taking a hammering on the inside. He gets hit with a low blow, Bowe gets a point deducted, and Holyfield goes right back into action instead of taking a longer break.
Vargas vs Trinidad. Examples of both. Trinidad walked through all of Vargas' BLATENT fouls and kept fighting like a professional...to teh point where Jay Nady didn't even notice half of them. Trinidad lightly taps Vargas in the 4th round just south of teh belly button and Varags whines like a pussy.
Mclellan didn't complain as much as he should have done about Benn's rabbit punching. Tyson didn't complain much about Bruno holding and hitting (rabbit punching too) in their first fight. I hate rabbit punching..it's very dangerous. If I were a fighter and my opponent kept rabbit punching I think I'll deliberately get myself disqualified by kicking him in teh nuts of something of that nature. That's a very dangerous foul.
Though Hopkins is the worst when it comes to milking, one example against him was his second fight with Robert Allen, who spent almost as much time on the canvas as he did upright. His theatrics even drew skepticism from Ferdie Pacheco, which set up a funny exchange. Pacheco questioned the antics, and Allen asked him, "You've ever bit hit in the balls?" to which Pacheco replied, "Yes... by two ex-wives." :: Trinidad-Campas is a good example of not milking, though Yori Boy probably regretted. Trinidad nailed him with a low blow and as Steele was moving in, Campas didn't even break stride, clipping Tito with an uppercut, seemingly oblivious to the foul. The irony being that Trinidad took over the fight after the very brief time out.
I was thinking of that. Trinidad always got accused of going for the gonads when the chips were down but nobody ever seemed to notice his opponents never had a problem retaliating against him or landing their own cheap shots. I never saw Tito complain. Like you said, Vargas must have hit him with a dozen low blows the announcers failed to pick up on because be never bitched once. Maybe Papa Trinidad had him neutered as a lad to keep his eyes on the prize. :dunno:
Not Milking: Tomas Molinares vs. Marlon Starling Molinares didn't have much skill but he could punch like a mule. Only time I'd ever seen Starling hurt in a fight. Substitute kicking with punching and you got Bowe Golota 1 . Bowe laded some vicious rabbit punches in that one.
I always thought this was a pretty funny attempt at milking a foul. In fairness.....I've seen people whacked with hammers and baseball batted a few times, and each time there's no reaction for 20-30 seconds then they get woozy and collapse. I'd imagine a headbut THAT HARD to the temple might be similar. Not saying he ISN'T faking, but the slow reaction isn't proof he is.
