I don't know if this has been discussed here already but apparently RJ made nothing from the Hopkins rematch, see link below: http://www.kocosports.com/absolutenm/anmviewer.asp?a=33217&z=198 Its hard to sympathise after all the bullshit which surrounded the original negotiations back in 2002..60/40 I kick yo ass..er... Unfortunately it probably means he'll keep fighting..wouldnt be surprised to see Shumenov beating the crap out of him in Kazakhstan for peanuts in 2011
He f*cked over John Ruiz on the negotiation table I read back when they fought in 2003. And Ruiz allowed it to happen.
Jones owes the fans about 70% of his bank account for a lot of the sh*t he gave us in the ring with some of those bum-of-the-month opponents he handpicked. He got off easy I think.::
Indeed, worst of all, he did his best not to promote the fight ( failing to show for a photo shoot for a tv cover for example) when Ruiz only earning was to come from the PPV. I like Jones but am quite happy to see this. Karma at it's finest.
Yep! Ruiz was the WBA Champion and he didn't even attempt to negotiate with Jones. All he did was direct his team to say "Whatever, just give him what he wants!":dunno: Ruiz wasn't even guaranteed a paycheque. It was all riding on sales from the PPV. And he was only entitled to ppv revenue if it exceeded a certain amount of buys. So he basically went into the fight with the possibility of making ZERO money. All the while, Jones was guaranteed 10 mill, gate and most of the ppv buys. I'm sad to see this happen to Jones but regardless, f*ck him. He got what he deserved IMO. I liked Jones a lot and consider him one of the most talented ever but he was a piece of sh*t when it came to making demands. He took advantage of the fans and his opponents. Good to see him get his comeuppance.
Jones is a bidness man. He know bidness. I never understood how these guys who barely even have high-school diplomas suddenly think they are "Bidness Men". ::
Doesn't matter what Ruiz got in the end from PPV sales though. What matters was how business was conducted and the leeway he gave Jones to do as he pleased, especially since it was Jones who needed Ruiz since Ruiz was the champion. Ruiz didn't need Jones.
