Funeka tested positive for the diuretic hydrochlorothiazide following his split-decision loss to the overweight Joan Guzman in their March 27 rematch. Funeka faces a fine and suspension from Nevada regulators.

Another cheater...fits right in with Guzman.

This is old news. Funeka's manager already admitted they took a pill that had that substance in it. They said their doctor misinformed them when he told them that it wasn't on the NSAC's banned substance list and their doctor is backing up their story. I'm sure not everyone is intentionally cheating and it's not like it was a PED. I'll give Funeka the benefit of the doubt here.

At least he was trying to make weight. :nono:

Maybe Guzman should have taken a few diuretics before the fight.

    Who gives a fuck?

He took something that made him shit more, at least he made weight.

Funeka shitting a lot must have given him a HUGE advantage over that scumbag Guzman, who didn't even weaken himself to make the weight, didn't even attempt it

Banned or not, that's hardly a PED, and their story sounds legit too.

Diuretics are used to mask PEDs, but since you are the personal Pacquiao defence attorney you already knew that. :crafty:

Its not a PED. I still feel bad for Funeka. And now its obvious he cant really make 135... now he prob has move up 140, where he'll get owned by ALOT of fighters.

PED user just like everybody else.

let them know to safeguard himself.

"hey we took this to make weight it might come up = now there is a 50% chance they will let us slide and a 0% chance we are caught on PEDs."

how is it not a performance enhancing drug if it allows the guy to fight at an unnaturally low weight class? the dude is over 6ft at lightweight. the circumstances of guzmans skull duggery seem to have more people ready to excuse funeka's transgression.

It's not illegal for the performance enhancing effects that it could have. It causes a fighter to be extremely dehydrated, which is very dangerous and could lead to serious injuries in the ring...even death.

Yep he was beaten in the rematch.

If Funeka is on PEDs, the rematch is a pretty good indication of why people need to put PEDs into perspective. One guy failed a drug test, the other guy didn't have to make weight. Guzman looked stronger, fitter, and showed a better chin than the first fight, Funeka looked the same. Funeka won the first fight, and lost the second.

Of course, he really could be using it to make weight rather than mask a proper PED, given how fucking tall he is.

And Neil - well if you look it at like that, I guess a diuretic is a performance enhancing drug, but still less so than jacking your hands up with Xylocaine so you feel no pain at all when landing meaty shots.

Damn, didn't know that. Sounds more dangerous than the average steroid.
