Wish this fight were being shown in the U.S. I keep hearing how great Hasegawa is, but I've never seen him fight.

Will he be too big for Montiel, who's never been as good at 118 as he's been at 115?

I pick Montiel by UD but the fight is in Japan so he'll need to KO Hasegawa.

Well Montiel has a wide range of performance levels (world class to journeyman) that change almost from fight to fight. He´ll have to be very close to his best here, otherwise Hasegawa will destroy him.

I´ll take Hasegawa by mid round KO or easy decision.

    Hasegawa by legitimate decision.

Japan doesn't screw fighters over.... Montiel is more likely to get a fair decision in Japan than Hasegawa in the USA

Hasegawa by decision, won't be controversial

LOL. Montiel is a weirdo. Knocks out Hasegawa in four rounds, unified WBC/WBO champion.

wow! i gave montiel very little chance of winning. this by far is the best win of his career.

i agree w/ el terrible, he is a weirdo. chances are he'll lose soon to some guy he's suppose to easily beat.

this also enhances too sharp's legacy..

He´s pretty much on top of the "shouldn´t have lost to"-list of Montiel. He was a great little fighter, but at that stage, he was seen as cannon-fodder, but Montiel somehow managed to no show for 12 rounds.

Montiel will probably be dethroned by the bantamweight version of Carlos Baldomir very soon.

montiel fought scurred vs. johnson. he also fought apprehensively vs. jhonny gonzalez, who was big and strong, but not very good.

either way, i'd love to see him dispatch that clown darchinyan, but he'd probably be favored and would somehow fuck it all up and lose.

i remember thinking that martin castillo was gonna give him a very tough fight but that shit was a complete blowout. i guess he's a gambler's worst nightmare

It's a shame Montiel is so inconsistent because when he's on he's a treat to watch.

Wow, never saw that coming. sounds like hasegawa got little too confident early doors and didnt show him enough respect

Was Hasegawa winning when he was stopped?

That's the thing that always bugged me. I could forgive the non-performance against Too Sharp, and chalk it up to stage fright. But not only did he lose to Jhonny-not-Johnny, but made him look boring - AND like a boxer - in the process.

Still, great win by Montiel, certainly a career-defining victory. Now I pray for Perez to beat Mares next month, and that Arum and Shaw play nice-nice to give us the most significant bantamweight matchup in decades.

From most accounts, it was competitive but that Hasegawa was in control of the fight.

montiel, to his critics, is an out and out punk. a talented coward. viva Marcellus Johnson

I'm not even sure Perez beat Agbeko. The more likely fight will be Perez against Darchinyan.

    I won a couple grand on the 2Sharp fight. 2Sharp was +500

nice. i was talking to my one friend who bet on hasegawa. i told him that there's no way that montiel would win. haha

didn't know 2 sharp was that big of an underdog then. i do remember a few people picking johnson to win that fight.

just watched this fight. hasegawa was doing fine until montiel landed his incredibly fast lunging hook 10 seconds left in the 4th round. hasegawa's arm got caught on the rope and he was virtually out ala castillo vs. corrales I. he took like 4 unanswered headshots until larry cole stepped in.
