Most of the forum picked Floyd pretty comfortably, so no surprise there. Mosley's performance, or lack thereof, was certainly a surprise.

Floyd dominated but Shane looked even older than I thought he would. I've predicted a 9-3 type of decision for Floyd so I wasn't too far off but I believed the rounds would be closer than that. I was sure Shane would be way more competitive. After the second, it looked like he gassed.

I want to see Floyd-Pac. Make it happen please.

Even though it went the distance...MY PREDICTION of Floyd by late stoppage was the most accurate prediction.

    Why?

The final result FLoyd W12 doesn't tell the story of the fight. Shane was close to being stopped. If Floyd had managed to explode on Shane in either the 10th or the 11th, Nazim would have stopped the fight.

Shane was beaten up. he didn't lose by "boxing clinic, potshotting" which most people predicted...

:notallthere:sure, when a fight ends 119-109, 119-109 and 118-110, Mayweather TKO11 is the more accurate prediction than Mayweather by lopsided decision:atu:

Yes. Who else thought that a Floyd by late stoppage was possible? not many. But everyone who watched teh fight last night was EXPECTING a Floyd by late stoppage after 7 rounds. Everyone.

Most of those who predicted teh lopsided decision...predicted a Floyd-Baldomir, Floyd-Marquez type of clinic.

They didn't predict a Shane trying to survive the late rounds against Floyd type of fight!

Basically....The Sly One is not to be messed with when it comes to understanding the mechanics of a fight!

Anyway I will say..it was very sad to see Shane beaten up like that. I was impressed with Floyd and happy that he won but wasn't happy to see Shane beaten up and dominated.

So believe it or not....I had mixed feelings after the fight.

I agreed with you before the fight that a stoppage was very possible and I think had May opened up he could have gotten it. But he did not, for whatever reason. That reason you (and I) could not predict, so the prediction was not correct

I think Sly makes a fair point. From everything I've read of the fight, Shane was fighting to survive, so Sly picked the pattern & dynamic of the fight well, even if the final written record goes down differently.

FWIW I always thought Floyd would have an easy time with Shane, but from the sounds of things, with Shane gassing and not being able to even mount an attempt to get back in the fight, the fears that the 16 months inactivity at 38 would have an effect were well founded.

BUT 100% credit to Floyd for taking the best fight available and dealing with the opponent in front of him so effectively. He has a good shout for returning to No1 at welter and p4p now.

I know. I'm actually half joking/half serious. I'm trying to bug people today.

As you said, at the end of the day, the late stoppage prediction was wrong.

Blah, blah, blah...you predicted a stoppage and were wrong. Is this gonna be like Pavlik-Taylor I where you ignore the actual end result and somehow try to give yourself extra credit?

How many more of these fucking decision wins is Floyd going to be allowed away with? Fuck, Ibragimov was more of a threat to Wlad, Wlad locked the guy down, took his O and was told "nah, go back to Europe, whitey, we don't like your sort round the Garden"

    :lol::lol:

I thought of something similar,.. about 'masterful untouchable dominance' that Fraud is making the headlines with,.. if this were a Wlad fight,.. it'd be,.. "He couldn't even knock him out!?" ...ie, the article for Wlad's victory against Chambers "What took him so long?" ,..

Your prediction would be just as correct as a guy that predicted Shane to win KO rd 2.

    Both wrong.

My prediction was also wrong but hey at least you were half right. Deep down a lot of the guys who picked Shane were just hoping shane would bring more. Kind of like you were hoping Floyd would do more.
