Norton by wide ud. You'd have to give Peter a punchers chance vs just about anyone bu prime Norton should be able to outwork him.
Norton got blasted by every decent or half-decent puncher there was....however, Peter is pretty crap so.....Norton pts12 Peter
Peter wins this for sure. Without question. It's amazing how underrated Peter is. and the worst part is, he'll get no credit for stopping maskaev.
I don't think Peter is as hard a puncher as he is sometimes made out to be - though his power is considerable. And he needs big extension on his shots to generate his huge power....and I don't think Norton would give it to him; as he'd be awkwardly crowding and pressing and pushing and mauling Peter. By the time Norton fought Shavers he was like 37 and at the tail end of his career....and I don't think Peter has Shavers' power to boot. Nor does he have near Foreman's power - or George's thudding jab and strength and style. Sure, I can see Peter "catching" Norton early and stopping it....but with a prime Norton and a master like Futch in his corner; I can certainly see Norton doing just enough to beat Peter and making a very, very uncomfortable fight for him. Can't underestimate just how awkward and effective Norton could be. Don't visualize Peter-Toney II....Norton won't lay back and allow Peter to fire off jabs and all sorts of combinations with all the space in the world. Peace.
Norton in a schooling, he couldn't take Foreman or Shavers punches, but Peter isn't in the same class of power. Peter might even quit in the late rounds
Norton by a wide decision or possibly late TKO. Peter is an overrated puncher and certainly not in the league of Foreman (I don't put too much stock in the Shavers fight because Norton was pretty much done by then) as a puncher. Norton would be all over Peter, crowding him and working his body and not allowing Peter room to punch. And when it's over, Norton is the clear winner.
Peter is a motherfucking bum. Even though Norton's chin is a little suspect I have to believe he dominates Peter.
Norton did beat some good punchers. He'd have beaten a fighter of Peter's calibre...& poor conditioning.
"The body of your dreams begins with the work-out of your nightmares." - My father, many years ago. It's a shame someone couldn't get into Peter's ear at a young age with something similarly to the point. He's let himself down.
