Actually I heard that Shane is still WBA 147 champ. He should try to do the Berto fight again and unify. Berto is the easiest champion at 147 and it's winnable for Shane.

A think a big proponent here is how Margarito looks in his next fight. If he gets beaten to a pulp by the guy he's fighting maybe people will understand then the reason Shane was able to beat him to a pulp.

I hope Shane retires because he is a shell of what he used to be and Berto would whoop him too at this point.

what if he wanted a goodbye fight? I think that would be a decent fight regardless.

Berto is not Floyd. Let's not call Mosley shot already.

True, he's not Floyd. Still it's not so much what Berto can do as opposed to what Mosley can't do. Shane's inability to let his hands go coupled with tiring out after a couple rds could still be disastrous for Shane.

It'd be hilarious if he rematched Estrada, got KO'd, and made PBF's win look all the more shitty. That's what he should do.

It is not as big as you think it is, Hut Hut.

Shane has turned down more millions than any fighter in history.

He turned down 12 million for a third fight with Oscar, then gets the shit beat out of him for a tenth of that next fight.

He also turned down huge money years ago to fight Floyd.

He was reportedly hammered financially in a divorce as well.

I admire him as a fighter and a nice guy, but I honestly don't think he is playing with a full deck up top.

If his payday was 7 mil for Floyd, he probably took home between 3 and 2 and a half mil after all was said and done, but will rebound nicely with the PPV shares, so perhaps he'll keep the take to around 4 and a half, 5 mil.

Shane WILL NOT retire, he does not know how to do anything else.

    Karl

    You may be right.

He never attracted big numbers of fans in his own right, either.

Good post Karl. If you add some of Shane's fights that fell out because of losses or negotiations like Mayorga in 04-05, Zab Judah in 06, a 2nd attempt with PBF from about two years back, and even Berto from January and it gets worse. He probably lost over 50 million in fights that were never made.

It's possible. 12-15 for a 3rd DLH fight, 6-7 for Judah, 5 million for Berto, who knows how much he could have gotten for a fight with Tito too.

Yep. I'd hate to see him turn into another former great catching beatings because he stayed in too long.

This can be said about 99% of guys who fight. It's not as though many at that level choose boxing over Harvard or M.I.T.

Secondly, fighters who retire with the bulk of their stash are few and far in between.
