The DLH that TKO'ed Bredahl vs. the Marquez that fought on even terms with Pacquiao. Who wins?

Marquez does. He's too seasoned, & finds too many holes in the up-start De La Hoya's offensive-minded approach. I really think he picks De La Hoya apart down the stretch.

Don't get me wrong --- I am usually quick to De La Hoya's defense, on all fronts. At 130lbs, he was a huge & imposing figure, already establishing his formidable mix of handspeed & power, along with a natural instinct for the kill. Pacquiao had all of that & more by the time he'd reached Jr. Light, though, & Marquez had matured into a simply superb counter-puncher & tactician. He'd exploit De La Hoya's youthful zeal with precision counters at mid-range, expose De La Hoya's lack of big-fight experience, & break him in the closing rounds for a fairly convincing decision.

Dicey early, but that's about all she wrote for the young De La Hoya. Marquez has his number come fight night. An 8-4, 116-112 decision.

I agree with you. Marquez survives an early DLH onslaught and picks him apart for the remainder of the fight.

Right that could've never happen. Pacquiao floored this guy 5 times in 2 fights yet his chin is granite...

JMM may be the most overrated fighter in the last 20 years.

Floored 4 times I think actually, and still fought on even terms with him as most felt he definately won the 2nd fight...
yeah knocked down all those times and yet still not been KO'd and its not like he fights like a scared man when he is hurt, I say his heart, stamina and his chin will keep him from gettin KO'd anytime in his prime...

It was 5. Oscar punches much harder than Manny. He's also much bigger. Marquez didn't win the second fight, got a fortunate call round one because a judge admitted to scoring error.

His trademark fight is a loss? WTF? Who has he beaten? 37 year old Casamayor? Juan Diaz? Who? Erik Morales did what he couldn't do and people act like it didn't happen. Yet Marquez picks himself off the canvas 5 times and walks away empty handed and he's an ATG...

He was down four times. Really, that is the least of what's wrong with your thinking on Marquez...

Regardless, he can't stay off the canvas and is overrated as hell.
