The best. I'm sure of it. Prime Shogun was definitely the best fighter on the planet, somehow this title went to Fedor, who had half the resume. The PRIDE LW division was STACKED, while the HW div was shit, and Shogun dominated when he was a young man. Doesn't this make him the youngest current UFC champ? Pretty crazy considering he's already a storied fighter.
Shogun showed us what we all knew, Machida would be better off working in the back of a pawn shop or maybe Good will or something, like he could be the guy that loads up the stuff you bought into your car. maybe keep his own tips too
The only ones who didn't know it were the MMA "experts". You know them? The ones who disrespect anybody with differing opinions? LOL!
Lyoto didn't actually start too badly...he had to be more aggresive...but leaving that left hand out the way he did was asking for trouble. Koscheck-Daley was hugely disappointing....it was like a contest to see who was the biggest badass, yet that only really took place outside of the ACTUAL contest...with the bogus time-out and the post-fight antics of both men. Daley, as much as i like to root for a brit, is a bell-end...i can understand wanting to knock Koscheck's block off, but that could've cost him his UFC career. Mitrione dominated Kimbo...not really a surprise. I've liked Mitrione ever since TUF, very raw but does have some natural ability there, whereas with Kimbo, it is all just so forced and methodical. Mitrione seriously needs to work on his cardio....but his leg kicks were very impressive.... short, sharp and effective.
Please explain how Shogun had a better resume. He lost to Babalu and Coleman. Shoguns best wins were no where near the level of Nog or Crocop. You make no sense.
Rampage and Lil Nog alone are on par with those wins. He lost to Babalu probably because it's not easy fighting a very good veteran when you are a 21 year old with 4 fights. Tournament formats do that I guess. And obviously he only lost to Coleman by freak injury. No one with half a brain really holds that against him.
Great card. I loved the Stephens-Stout fight. Kimbo-Mittrione was interesting for a couple of minutes also. What is with British sluggers and lack of wrestling and take down defense? Have Hardy and/or Daley ever even stopped a shoot by accident? Rua made a strong statement tonight. That was impressive shit. It looks like a great matchup with the winner of Rampage-Evans somewhere down the road. Or maybe a rematch with whoever wins the Griffin-Nog bout. 205 is wide open and there are a ton of potential fights. I love the idea of Machida being thrown back into the contender heap.
Griffin doesn't deserve a title shot. Lil Nog isnt that highly rated to justify it either. Not that the fight is even happening. He pulled out and is being replaced by Jason Brilz.
The Machida KO saved that card from being a crap fest. The Stephens fight was solid but performances from Craptrick Cote, Dildo Slice and Josh Cockchek made the undercard shitty. You are definitely spot on about Machida going back into circulation. It should make for more great matchups instead of waiting and watching for who will fight him.
Cote vs Belcher was a pretty good fight I thought. :dunno: 3 out of 5 ain't bad. And with the main event, they could've showed nothing but a myriad of various John Ruiz fights and I would've still been happy.
I agree. A guy getting slammed on his face is pretty cool in my book. There is some real hate involved if you want to call this card boring. It was all good save for the Koshceck fight.
It was so-so to me until the KO of Machida. That made it a good card alone. Cote really let me down, so I'm pissed. I am happy that Mitrione won but it was kind of pathetic at the end.
Because Shogun's knee was badly injured so the UFC happily matched up there shitty cash cow with Shogun.
IMO the only fight left for Mitrione is Roy Nelson. Nelson by KO if it happens and then Meathead can go back to being the ditz he always was.
