A Welterweight clash. Two of my favourite, favourite fighters through history. Picking a winner would be like choosing one son over another!

Wilfred Benitez & Mickey Walker. What do you think of this one?

I have always wondered how a fan can call someone like Mickey Walker "one of their favorites" when the guy fought in the late 20's. How can you know if you like a guy if you never seen him fight beyond a few highlights or old clips?

Doesn't personality or character influence whether you're a fan of a boxer or not? Can you possibly determine that by reading about a guy or seeing limited footage.

I can say I was impressed with Gene Tunney's accomplishments and his purported defensive brilliance. But I'm not sure I would be comfortable calling him my favorite.

Also, how can you possibly give an educated pick in a mythical matchup if you've seen limited actual footage of a fighter. I have a hard time with Louis, Robinson, Marciano etc just because it's tough to tell from old footage how strong or fast they might actually have been. And there is a ton of footage on each of them.

I have probably watched as much historic boxing footage as the average poster on here. Obviously more than some and not as much as a few. And I admit, I've seen only limited glimpses of Walker.

That being said, I like Walker by TKO in the 14th.

You've never become a fan of someone whose time you didn't live through, by way of reading deeply of them?

You know, Jesus has a few followers. No one around today ever met him

In all seriousness, Walker isn't Greb, either. Film & deep accounts of his career are well & truly in existence.

Yeah, but I don't call Jesus "my favorite son of God".
