I just came back from the Kissimmee Civic Center where mexican journeyman Saul "Baby" Duran (37-16-2 30KOs) pulled an upset and defeated geriatric Hector Macho Camacho in a ten round decision. Duran scored a knock down in the first round, was more agressive and had better stamina than the more slower Camacho. It was sad to watch this former five time champ losing almost every single round to a boxer who barely had boxing skills and practically zero defense. Camacho also lose points for pushing down several times the head of Duran and excessive grabbing. Ironically this card was a Reyes-Macho Time production which supposedly was going to be the first of an international farewell tour for Camacho. This plan seemed to have been temporarily derailed by tonight's bout.

Word. The mexican was like 20 years younger than Camacho and still Camacho not only lasted the distance, but scored the most powerpunches. To the mexican guy credit, he has a good chin, but so does Camacho. Still it was pathetic to watch an almost 50 year old guy trying to fight like he used to when was young, but not acomplishing much. Camacho is still an attraction. The place was jam packed and I was amazed to see how many mexicans attended (this part of Florida is not known to have a mexican community). Most of them didn't even knew Duran, but do still hate Camacho so much that they came to watch him lose. By the last rounds, all the mexicans surrounding me (I sat in the wrong section! LOL) were yelling profanities at their guy for not being able to KO an old Camacho.

Yeah, today's fighters are not up to par in the ones from decades ago.

The way fightnews is reporting it you'd figure this was Tyson-Douglas.

    I mean, who cares?

Now you know how I feel when a way past time to retire Sugar Ray got beat up by Camacho. A guy he would have laughed at before pummeling anywhere near his prime.
