Who wins between these two great fighters? I'd take Ortiz by UD. Arguello had the bigger firepower, but Ortiz was better in most other areas and was more versatile.
I favor Alexis... I could see Ortiz winning many rounds, but Carlos lacked big-time power, he was an accumulation guy who relied on that and his great boxing IQ to get things done... Ortiz never faced a guy who could bang like this, one of the most perfect punchers ever to live... Its odd, I'd probably pick Ortiz in more 135 MMs than I would Alexis, but styles make fights and I think Ortiz can't get Arguello's respect enough to keep him honest and at the same time, he doesnt have the great speed and mobility that drove Arguello nuts... you need at least one of those things to have a shot at Arguello at any weight... either great speed and mobility, or a good skillset WITH power Carlos, right in the middle of both, is all wrong in this instance, despite his being right in so many others
