I went with Morales-Barrera I. Runner-up, for me, would be Vazquez-Marquez III, in spite of the outcome, with Corrales-Castillo I making bronze.

I love your enthusiasm Ramonza. You're already one of my favourite posters here.

Anyway..it was a great decade for fights. Still a very underrated decade in that regard.

    Gimme Corrales-Castillo 1 by a hair.

Trinidad-Vargas is close though and so are the first and third Morales-Barrera fights.

    Pac-Morales II followed by Tito-Vargas, MAB-Morales I and Lennox-Vitali. Gatti-Wards were garbage

You know, I think I might call Morales-Barrera I the best skirmish of the last twenty years, let alone the past ten.

Corrales/Castillo 1. And although there were other great, great fights.... it's not really all that close.

    I usually vote Barrera-Morales I. Today I voted Corrales-Castillo I. Don't know why. Both were great.

I'm in the minority, but I thought Vazquez-Marquez III pipped Corrales-Castillo I to #2 fight of the decade.

The dramatic end is really hard to top with Coralles-Castillo I. Rocky Balboa stuff.

It is, but Vazquez-Marquez III, despite having a one-sided final round, was a really grandstand closing three-minutes, & exciting despite the fact Vazquez dominated.

It also has a very noteworthy, almost Balboa-esque, comeback mounted by Vazquez, positively dominated by the quicker, sharper-punching Marquez, before reeling in the deficit & squeeking by --- an outstanding element Corrales-Castillo I lacks. The gumshield controversy also slightly sours the fight, for mine. Not a lot, given everything which went before it, but it still lingers with me as a bad after-taste. No such criticism of Vazquez-Marquez III, as I felt Marquez deserved his point deduction, & was rightly ruled down in the last stanza (although I personally have always felt that regulation should be scrapped).

I've voted Corrales-Castillo but I must say I'm surprised you didn't list Tito-Vargas. It was better than a few fights that you've listed.

Which was the fight Rocky spit out his mouthpiece?

    Having a hard time remembering.

One per year, so it's that one or Morales-Barrera I.

No need to be a dick dude. It was a great and brutal fight ponctuated by a nice comeback by Corrales even though it was tainted by the mouthpiece controversy. I'm sure you understood why Hut*Hut talked about Balboa.

This list is just according to The Ring FOTY winners --- as such, Morales-Barrera I was the only available option for 2000, having won the award.

Thanks, I didn't notice he listed 1 fight per year. I prefered Tito-Vargas to Morales Barrera but I'm biased because I was a big Tito fan. I understand why someone would pick Morales-Barrera over that one though.

Just felt like kind of thing which might have been written into a boxing film. Just the OTT drama and twists and turns in that final round almost seemed scripted. Maybe to say it was 'Pro Wrestling' type stuff mighta hit the mark better? Either way watching it live was high drama....

Can't lose going with either one.

A lot to choose from that year....Trinidad-Reid, Hamed-Sanchez, Mosley-DLH among others.
