And that's why you can get 7 DIY magazines & 2 Karate magazines in borders but not a single boxing magazine anymore. 12k people watching a fight that 400k might have watched if it'd had been on free.
Amen, MTF. He should be thankful for whatever Boxing throws at him, because frankly, he has no business being inside a ring, by rights. A lifetime ban was the only credible option, but the ball was dropped here. Even allowing for missing that one, someone comes up with a 12-month sentence!? Who, his cousin? That was simply unforgivable leniency. I'm still astonished at the amount of people who come out to support or defend his image. I know they're in the minority, but the fact they exist at all, & in the numbers they do, makes me wonder if these people truly comprehend just how dangerous his infraction was. Make no mistake about it --- fighters can, & have, maimed, crippled & killed rivals with loaded gloves. I class it ahead of PED's as infractions go, actually.
12-15,000 is probably enough for them to cut a profit for that PPV. Arum is good at that. Margarito shouldn't be allowed in the ring. What he did was disgusting.
The Margarito ppv was very poorly marketed compared to Mosley/Mayweather, etc. I didn't even know Margarito was even fighting that weekend. No press, no promotion, nothing! Maybe in the States there was hype but nothing here in Canada.
The bout brought 17,000 mexican fans at the Aguascalientes stadium in Mexico. So as tickets sales go, it was a success. PPVs were just pathetic. He will be hero in Mexico, but not anywhere else.
Couldnt agree more mate. This prick should have been dealt a life ban IMHO. Giving it loads of shit about who may or may not be on drugs is all well and good, but here is a man who has been CAUGHT wrapping his hands in plaster and yet STILL has the right to make money from our sport. Disgusting MTF
