Ward is legit. Not great to watch, but he fights to win and evidently does a pretty good job.

However, this particular fight was as much of Green bitching out and not doing ANYTHING as Ward being impressive. To be honest I'm surprised Ward didn't take him out, Green was offering no resistance at all.

I must say that the only two fighters in this tourney who I like are Kess, and AA. I cant stand Ward, Dirrell, Froch, and Green.

Now looking ahead to Dirrell-Ward.... I see it as VERY much similar to Mayweather-Judah. Like Judah, Dirrell is faster and more athletic then Ward and could pose him problems. But like Floyd, Ward is the more versatile and intelligent of the two and will win it down the stretch.

Green is garbage...have said it from round one. If Ward could punch Green would have gone to sleep or at least had enough reason to quit. Green stopped throwing for one simple reason...he is and always has been sloppy and couldn't get out of the way of punches. Even when he's land a good bodyshot Ward jumped right back on him.

Ward will get KO'd but Dirrell will handle the honors. Of the two, Dirrell is the harder puncher and I believe what Green THOUGHT he'd be able to do, Dirrell will. Dirrell will catch Ward coming in and will knock him out. REED was correct in the outcome...he had the wrong fighter.

Green didn't turn to shit overnight...he's always been garbage...he simply fought guys who made him look good.

I dont see it, but if you're right.... Dirrell will become my new favorite fighter.

I havent hated a brotha as much as Andre Ward, since Lummox. But even Lummox was more exciting to watch then Ward.

I hate to admit it, but the only guys capable of beating Ward are both at HBO.... Bute, and Dawson.

I agree with this analogy. I think Ward is the stronger of the two mentally and also the more versatile.

I also don't understand this thinking that Ward is chinny. Is this backed by some evidence or is everyone assuming Ward is chinny because he just looks the part?

Ward was dropped, and hurt early in his career by a bum. I dont think he's as chinny as the Con man, but he probably doesnt have the best of chins, which might explain why he tries to smother his opponents.

I can't believe Showtime comparing Ward to Ray Leonard and Roy Jones. :dunno:

Whether he is going to be as good as them is besides the point. His style is nothing like either of those two guys. The obvious comparison to me would be Bernard Hopkins with less pop.

He roughs guys up, uses what speed he has to his advantage, controls distance, knows how to fight waaay inside when most others dont, and bends the rules just enough to get away with it.

Ray Leonard, and Roy Jones in thier primes woulda never gone the distance with a bum like Green.

Hell.... the over the hill Leonard that fought at 168 would have knocked Green out.

Ward has NOTHING like the handspeed and power that Leonard and Jones had.

I do believe his chin is a little suspect, and with a guy who has the speed of Dirrell, I could see Ward easily getting caught with counters he doesn't see coming.

With Dirrell its a question of his focus, but I thought he showed more focus against Abraham than Judah has shown in his entire career.

Its gonna be an interesting match.

hopefully ward and dirrell can actually turn into a rough fight. ward is obviously the more physical guy so it will be on him to get inside and do work. i hope that since ward is already in the next round he doesnt just coast and turn the fight into a cautious match between two chums a la Kevin Kelley and Bones Adams.

I don't get all the hate for Ward. Now, I'm from the East Bay Area, so naturally I am supporting Ward, but seriously, why all the hate for Ward?

He doesnt trash talk his opponents, is (as far as we know) a good role model for his community, and to date has dominated the two super six opponents he's been in with.

He's also got a VERY impressive ammy record, culminating with olympic gold. Why the hate?

Yes, with headbutts. In his hometown. Thank you for playing.

If Ward wins the Super 6 he could conceivably do it without facing either or both of Froch and Abraham.

The Only Thing "Boring" about Andre Ward is that he LACKS the Power to STOP Guys...He's a Fairly Aggressive, ACTIVE Fighter Though...

Ward Put a "Powder Puff" Beatdown on Allan Green Last Night....

I agree. I think Ward is better than Hopkins, but his style is similar in that he disrupts the opponent via tactics and strategy rather than with power or speed.

Roy? Huh? Leonard? Nah. Whatever similarities they have, there are far more apt comparisons out there.

Leonard didn't have great power or anything and he went the distance a lot.

Compared to Andre Ward, Ray Leonard was John Mugabi or Gerald McClellan, in Terms of Punching Power...

I hope to God you mean the 47 year old version of Nard because prime Hopkins was twice as good as Ward. Seems like Andre is getting way too fucking much overrated by a few.

I never knew that beating Allen Green could put a guy in the same league as Jones, Leonard, and Hopkins.

Was Edison Miranda the 2nd coming of Bob Foster?

Nope. I mean the prime Hopkins. Ward's best win--Kessler--is better than pretty much any of Hopkins' wins. Hopkins has Tarver, Tito, dlh, winky, pavlik.... So if you want to say he was 'twice as good', let's hear why because he didn't show it in the ring very often.

I think the Tarver win is Hopkins' best win and it may be better than beating Kessler, but Tarver wasn't exactly unbeatable.

I was there front row. Green had nothing from round one. I question his health with 85% of the colon missing could anyone fight at that level?!

I missed the part where Kessler became a first ballot hall of famer and beating him was some kind of big deal.
