Camacho is under-rated. He was a formidable Lightweight. People resent him an awful lot, & many won't rate him as a result. Still, that dance & robe combination looked like a forerunner to Ricky Martin, LOL.

It's written all over his body language and expressions. <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/aUGBHaopSfg&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/aUGBHaopSfg&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object> <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/3Rr-TGQAiFE&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/3Rr-TGQAiFE&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/lnr0HpwqvFM&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/lnr0HpwqvFM&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> Just cause all the shit racist people talk about Calzaghe made me like this fight. They say he slaps but the reality is he just fights on his toes. He has a respectable ko%. The same people who talk this nonsense call Muhammed Ali and Wilfred Benitez great but both of them fight on their toes and punch the same way Calzaghe does!! <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Nu17VUxzOzs&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Nu17VUxzOzs&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> Tarver is a lot smarter and nicer then people give him credit for but he shows his arrogant side to much in front of the press so it was enjoyable watch him get humbled and taken to school by Bernard Hopkins. <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/GRREO4lj5D0&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/GRREO4lj5D0&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> This fight is one of the most contemporary schoolings were skill and experience dominate youth and strength, same effect as Duran Moore.
"Skill" had nothing to do with Duran's pummeling of Moore --- at least notskill within the regulations of the sport. What sunk Moore as much as anything was the appalling refereeing of the bout. Duran could've been disqualified a dozen times, & should've been, too.
Nonsense. Moore was fouled out of the contest. Maradona's Hand of God was closer to being within the regulations of his sport than Duran's, "tactics" that night. Letting Duran fight that type of style was akin to allowing a soccer player to run with the ball tucked under an arm. Experience was certainly a factor in Duran's victory, but (legal) skill was most certainly not.
One of my favorites was Gianfranco Rosi just confusing the hell out out of Darrin Van Horn. Rosi pulled out every trick he had and put the cherry on top by dropping Van Horn in the last round.
Duran, Duran. :cheer: The way he found that counter right uppercut from range as a key punch to unlocking Ortiz within about 30 seconds was something else. The way he feints the jab to draw a stop shot then hooks round the side of the opening, too. Then when Ortiz starts anticipating that he uses the time it gives him to come inside up the middle with short right uppercuts. Great stuff.
That's a fairly downright bizarre interpretation of that fight, I must say, I had to double check it wasn't UGTBK who wrote this.:: Personally i think that was up there with Locche-Cervantes as one of the most gorgeous displays of boxing skills ever recorded on quality film; fouling didn't change the outcome or pattern of that fight one iota & if it quickened Moore's demise he should be thankful it did. *edit* just rewatched some of it & after 5 rounds I counted 1 low blow each. Duran's was possibly accidental (though I fancy it was deliberate) since Moore pushed his head down as he threw (2nd rd) - Moore lined his up for about 4 seconds before he threw it (3rd rd). Neither man complained or even broke step. I didn't see a single headbut, rabbit punch or kidney shot. Literally no idea what fight you watched. If Duran's fouling was so subtle it can't even be seen when I look for it, it's just further testament to his genius. :bears: ::
Man, you really have some sort of a problem with Duran, don't you? Did he beat up a fighter you really like or something?
WOW.... So Roberto Duran Can BLATANTLY THUMB Davey Moore, yet B PRAISED for his "Brilliance" that Night???... REED:kidcool:
There are a few other good Duran fights on zeffitowers youtube channel if your interested and they are all in HD.
Well, he did fight one of my favourite fighters --- Benitez. Although, if you believe the Duran contingent, this fight apparently never occurred.
Whew! Dodged my question there, huh?? So, what's up with the Duran dislike? When someone usually has something negative to say about a particular fighter whenever time his name comes up I am usually interested in the reason why.
says who? Benitez is frequently lauded for that performance and with good reason, he fought brilliantly Im indifferent to Duran really, but he was a phenomenal fighter, I dont see how anyone could say different... especially at 135, where he was just astonishing
You can keep Sugar Ray Robinson because in my book Roberto "Manos de Piedra' Duran is the #1 P4P GOAT.
