Apparently he's targeting either Sergio Mora or Martinez for a future fight. Martinez has already offered Mosley the lions share of the purse as well as the offer to come down to 155. I could see Martinez boxing Shane's ears off fairly easily. Shane should have retired but if he's still able to command million dollar pay days then by all means fight on. However I seriously doubt Shane can command those kind of paydays without serious comp. Fighting the Sergio's is only good for his career and at this point he needn't be fighting for that. All Shane should be concentrating on is a Cotto or Margarito rematch or a fight with Pacquiao which would probably lead to his death. Anything else isn't finacially worth it.
I assume a fight with Martinez would be a non-title match? Can't see Mosley being crowned Middleweight champ.
Looks like Sep 18 is the date and Mora will be the target as Shane said he didn't want to fight soemone of Martinez' calibur so soon after getting trounced by Floyd. He also had an option to face Berto but Berto wouldn't budge off of his 50/50 purse split demands so Mora became the choice. Now if Shane can win this fight maybe him and Cotto could have a rematch at 154 and call it the battle of the faded stars.
It's a shame what happened for Berto. IMO, he would have bested Mosley & become champion, but he'll never know now.
He looks terrible, he's done. The Margarito fight was a mirage like I'd said for a long time. He might still be competent, but I'm not sure he has the stamina to even compete. People aren't paying to see this washed up version of Shane, so he should just retire. It's the same thing with Roy and Hopkins, they fought too long past the point where they were effective. The fuck I want to watch some washed up version of a great fighter for?
I guess in the end it's about money, & just as many people in all walks of life continue in their job past the point of them doing it effectively, so every boxer will continue. I wouldn't say Mosley has nothing left just yet, but his prime ended nearly a decade ago, & barring the fights with Cotto & Margarito, I have not come away from a Mosley fight being impressed with his form in a good seven or eight years.
Fighters almost never retire when they should like so many others, he too will sound like Mushmouth from "Fat Albert" 10 years from now
I wish he'd retire. He just lost to possibly the best fighter currently boxing, he could still beat a few guys. He'll need to get beat by lesser guys before he really considers it.
All Berto would have to do is lower his price, and we'd be able to find out - can't feel too bad for him.
Mosley strikes me as the type to need to lose to quite a few inferior fighters before he hangs them up.
Well, Since Winky Wright AND Vernon Forrest were HIGHER Caliber Fighters than Sergio Mora, REED has NOfuckingCLUE who U're Referencing.... REED:hammert:
Mora could beat Mosley simply because he's so much bigger - the guy's a middleweight. Mosley is a welterweight. Stupid fight for Mosley. Only reason he's even considering taking it is because G promotes Mora. Otherwise, what in the hell does he have to gain?
