Why is there a weight limit at heavy in the UFC? Is it to stay away from the freakshow of ancient UFC??

Partly because UFC and Dana couldn't resist the freakshow of some 7'5 giant?

REED Never Understood it Either...Great Question...

Back in the Day, Guys would've ABUSED it, but REED Can't See ANY World Class Heavyweight, In his RIGHT Mind, Thinking it's ADVANTAGEOUS to Come in Bordering on 300 lbs...

Exactly. As a casual fan getting more into it I never even knew until all this talk of Carwin and Lesnar cutting weight. The benefits of "huge" do tend to disappear after 270sh anyway.

If REED Isn't Mistaken, Lesnar's about 285 on FIGHTNIGHT, but he's an Athletic FREAK Also...The SPEED, AGILITY, STAMINA & EXPLOSIVENESS R Still There for Lesnar @ 285, but he's an EXCEPTION to the Rule...

It's not a UFC thing. You'd have to ask the athletic commissions along with the people who made the US Unified MMA rules.

How do you figure? The sanctioning bodies dictate the weight classes.

I think because it gets to point where it's just not fair if you had a 220 pound guy trying to wrestle around on the mat with a 350 pound guy

But that's just It, 350lb Guys would GAS in about Half a Round or LESS...Wasn't Bob Sapp like 400 Lbs, Mostly MUSCLE???...Nonetheless, Dude had the CHIN of a 110lb FEMALE & the Stamina of an OVERWEIGHT 98 Year Old...

Size DOES Matter, but there Comes a Point where even Size is Toooooo MUCH...

WTF bro. Sapp , back whe he cared about mma and k1, had a pretty decent chin. He took huge shot from monster puncher Lebanner and Hoost, and didn't go nowhere. Just caused crocop made him quit by cracking his orbital bones doesn't make his chin bad.

Hoost was hardly a monster puncher. He had a very good punch but far from monster.

I've never seen a fighter in any combat sport that hated getting hit in the face more than Bob Sapp.
