:bears::bears: Mundine is the worst sort of creature one can hope to encounter in sports. Mundine....is a coward. When the "Cartoon Scandal" broke, Mundine said he would avenge Islam by beating up little Sam Soliman, an Arab Christian. Funny that....I would have thought Kessler, the Dane, would have been a far more fitting opponent, considering the source of the cartoons and Kesslers genuine title credentials. The sooner Mundine is feeding grubs out in the bush, the better. Hi Kauki.
don't you think leading ottke on the cards after 9 rounds is credible? in his 11th fight? actually, i can't find the exact scorecards...anyone?
And when you consider how badly Mundine ended the fight.......well, it kind of, shall we say, undid his good work. Nobody remembers Herol Graham for leading Julian Jackson and then getting KTFO.
I think at that time, it could have sat as a double-edged sword --- what Mundine held Ottke to was genuinely great, given the circumstances. Equally abysmal was going out in that fashion to this guy who couldn't fight the tide in the bathtub. He came out of it with his rep about even, all things considered. What has followed in the future nine years has been nothing short of atrocious & despicable. You only need pick up a paper & read a column from a Rugby Legaue journalist posing as a Boxing authoritarian in-between quotes from League players to see the adopted, "In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king," mentality which forms the basis for some of these dilettantes & their articles, waxing lyrical about Mundine's circus. It would never fly with an educated audience, & Mundine knows it. That's as much a reason as any the States & its promise of big paydays --- though only for honest, hard fights --- doesn't interest him.
I know the sort. Like the commentators raging when Danny Green had Roy Jones hurt......raging arseholes who were behaving as if something truly stunning was happening. All that was happening was that an old, tired former champ was being beaten by a fresher opponent. That ceaseless endless routine was being played out, young defeating old, and the commentators were behaving as if Grendel himself was being slayed before their eyes. Mundine is a sham. He prefers to loiter in what is, without doubt, a pugilistic backwater, he knows what would happen him the moment he gives up fighting 154lbrs. As for Ottke, whilst your expression gave me some amusement, Ottle has beaten a lot of good fighters down the years, at both amateur and professional level. But nobody should ever be stopped by Ottke. Ottke couldn't stop a bus.
Yes, his legacy will forever read "KTFO by Ottke!" Nobody else will ever be able to make that claim. ::
Thanks. You couldn't just laugh like everybody else? :nono: How many KTFO's did he have? Video evidence and a Paypal transfer to my account would be appreciated. ray:
It is....it produces great fighters but very few great fights are held there. Some outstanding fighters, for sure. Just not much in the line of hosting them.
They remember Herol being put down like an unwanted dog. They remember that bit for sure. :laughing: Commentator makes me laugh...."Oooooooh nooooooooooooo":crying::crying: <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/OhVi7cH-LaQ&hl=en_US&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/OhVi7cH-LaQ&hl=en_US&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
Articles & commentaries are usually done by those with no background (or future) in the sport, but they write or commentate with impugnity in the knowledge Mundine brings forth mostly non-fight fans who know nothing of pugilism, & are simply drawn to his circus for its own sake. It is quite abhorrent for genuine, committed Boxing fans --- the rarest of breeds in Australia --- to have to listen to in local surrounds.
Yes, and a similar phenomenon has presented itself in England and now in the USA. Basically, it is possible, thanks to the nature of the sport and TV too, to have little camps where a popular fighter fights no-hopers in his hometown under the auspices of some shitty sanctioning body, thus granting the event legitimacy. Everyone thinks their champ is for real, the TV networks buy the fights, everyone makes cash and the pundits and journos then re-sell details of the scam to the same people who paid money to see it live earlier in the week. It's like a little self-sustaining circus. All fighters engage in them, but the real fighters break off and head to pastures new before long. The fakes stay behind, lapping it up, before they cash out, a la Brian Nielsen vs Tyson.
I am hard-pressed to meet anyone (colleagues, associates etc.) who are fans of combat sport which isn't awash with the phrase, "Tap Out," & when you see Boxing of Mundine's calibre, I find it difficult to defend. I cannot stand MMA, but that's me. It's gaining ground with each passing day in Sydney.
MMA offers people who have never trained, but who are fat and strong, the opportunity to call themselves fighters. Real fighters refer to wrestling and grappling as the "Last Resort" It is the preserve of the unskilled fighter and is a more than ample substitute for skills and technique. <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/NxgrFGQ7AQI&hl=en_US&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/NxgrFGQ7AQI&hl=en_US&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
In fairness to the legit guys on the Sydney scene, they are as sick of the phoneys as the rest of us are. There is a real element of blokes going around wearing TapOut shirts & letting anyone who'll listen know they're, "in training, bro," when they really aren't. The real students of the sport acknowledge that burgeoning element. I see it as a trend for the majority, & trends fade with time.
Waz hapnin cracker arsed irish motherfucker, I thoroughly agree ofcourse, but avent paid him attention for a good.... ooooo...about... 7 years?.. I've no mas tar boxing nowz,.. but yar still the sea port,.. can't help a bit of a flirt.
Mundine isn't the first or the last man to fake animosity towards another fighter to bring interest to his career. I don't see what's so outrageous about that vid.
