Nevada State Athletic Commission Executive Director Keith Kizer today emailed the list of UFC 116 medical suspensions to MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). UFC 116 took place this past Saturday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and aired live on pay-per-view. The UFC's biggest heavyweights did not draw big medical suspensions in the evening's memorable main event. Champion Brock Lesnar came back from a first-round shellacking to choke out an exhausted interim champion, Shane Carwin, though both escaped without serious injury. Co-main event fighters Yoshihiro Akiyama and Chris Leben are benched simply for "tough fight" (Leben upset the Japanese fighter with an exhilarating last-minute triangle choke in the fight's final frame, which came just weeks after his TKO win over Aaron Simpson). The event drew no indefinite suspensions and most fighters escaped with minor injuries. The full list of medical suspensions includes: Krzysztof Soszynski: must have his left thumb cleared by doctor or suspended until Dec. 31; minimum suspension runs until Sept. 2 with no contact until Aug. 18 Chris Tuchscherer: must have left ear cleared by ear, nose and throat doctor or suspended until Dec. 31; minimum suspension runs until Sept. 2 with no contact until Aug. 18 for right cheek laceration Seth Petruzelli: must have right elbow strain cleared by orthopedic doctor or suspended until Dec. 31; minimum suspension runs until Sept. 2 with no contact until Aug. 18. Kurt Pellegrino: must have his left knee cleared with orthopedic doctor or suspended until Dec. 31; minimum suspension runs until Aug. 18 with no contact until Aug. 3 Ricardo Romero: must have broken left lower jaw cleared by oral, maxillary facial surgeon or suspended until Dec. 31; minimum suspension runs until Sept. 2 with no contact until Aug. 18. Lesner Suspended until August 18, that can pretty much rule out the September 25th bout with Cain. Says he can start training on the 3rd of August. Is that enough time to train for this fight? I dont know
I thought so too, but didn't he have to go to the hospital or something? I would not think that Brock would want to fight Cain that quickly with only what two months to train? I wouldn't do it. I'd tell them I'll do the fight in November at the earliest.
