I agree with the whole unbeaten thing. It is sooooo overrated. A couple of losses on your record means that you are consistantly fighting credible threats. Most of the time the unbeaten fighters have a few of the top fighters that they have avoided. I respect a fighter with 3 losses but a stacked resume over an undefeated fighter with wins over only a few credible threats.

Floyd will never be remembered as a great. People know he's never beaten a great or legendary fighter in their prime. Only shot fighters who were long past their best.

I like the spin on Pacquiao making "concessions" on drug testing.

Anything short of the best testing is the concession, not agreeing to go along with better testing. So anything short of olympic style testing (presumably the standard) is the concession Floyd is making, not the other way around.

I realize the argument can be made that anything over what is required by the boxing commission is the concession, but I just don't agree.

    He didn't lose the rematch.

But you have to say, one of the best things Holyfield did for his legacy was pricing himself out of the Lewis negotiations after the Moorer fight and wasting a year on Henry Akinwande and Vaughn Bean.

Now that Mayweather has disappeared, I'd much rather see Pac drop to 140 and mix it up with Alexander, Bradley, and maybe Judah then to see him go up to 154. A fight with Khan wouldn't happen because of the training situation, but that would be good too down the line if one of them ever left Roach.

I just have zero interest in a Cotto rematch or a fight with Margarito.

Pacquiao has no plans staying in boxing much longer based on recent statements. Basically he wants the Floyd fight and if that can't be made, then one more fight against whatever other name out there, then retirement.

Yeah, that fight could've been ready for early 1998 with Holyfield coming off the Tyson and Moorer wins. Holyfield still would've only been 35 or so.

You really believe Floyd would of took the fight then? Manny should of taken the deal without question but thats the past ,so that's irrelevant unless your a Floyd groupie.

MIAMI -- Floyd Mayweather Jr. allowed a deadline for striking a deal on a superfight with Manny Pacquiao to pass without saying anything.

A day later, Mayweather indicated that his stance wouldn't be changing anytime soon.

"I'm not interested in rushing to do anything," Mayweather told The Associated Press.

Appearing in Miami on Sunday as a coach at a charity basketball game hosted by Dwyane Wade and Alonzo Mourning, Mayweather happily fielded questions about the NBA. But when talk turned to boxing -- and Pacquiao in particular -- the fighter known as Money simply wouldn't respond.

I'm not really thinking about boxing right now. I'm just relaxing. I fought about 60 days ago, so I'm just enjoying myself, enjoying life, enjoying my family and enjoying my vacation.
-- Floyd Mayweather Jr., when asked about fighting Manny Pacquiao

Mayweather's camp did not respond to a deadline early Saturday put in place by Pacquiao promoter Top Rank for exclusive negotiations, which has put what could be the richest fight in boxing history in doubt. Mayweather and Pacquiao are clearly the two biggest stars in the sport but have not signed a deal despite months of negotiations.

"I'm not really thinking about boxing right now," Mayweather said. "I'm just relaxing. I fought about 60 days ago, so I'm just enjoying myself, enjoying life, enjoying my family and enjoying my vacation."

Mayweather has appeared at the event Mourning founded known as the Summer Groove in past years, plus has grabbed courtside seats at Heat games during previous trips to Miami. But there was a certain irony to his appearance Sunday: Mayweather was a coach on the bench that the Heat occupy, sitting in the seat that Miami coach Erik Spoelstra uses during games.

Spolestra is of Filipino descent, and is a huge Pacquiao fan.

"I'm supporting all basketball players because I'm a fan of basketball," Mayweather said.

Pacquiao already has agreed to an equitable split of the earnings from the megafight, along with extensive drug testing. The two sides nearly came to terms earlier this year, but the fight didn't happen then because Pacquiao was reticent about blood testing close to a fight.

Pacquiao ended up routing Joshua Clottey before about 50,000 fans at Cowboys Stadium in March, while Mayweather easily defeated Shane Mosley in May.

Although he hasn't spoken directly to Mayweather, Top Rank promoter Bob Arum said he believes the former pound-for-pound champion might be reluctant to fight this year because of the legal woes of Roger Mayweather, his uncle and longtime trainer.

Roger Mayweather will go on trial in Las Vegas next month on assault charges stemming from an altercation with a female boxer last year.

If the fight with Mayweather doesn't happen, Pacquiao could fight recently crowned junior middleweight champion Miguel Cotto, whom he's already defeated, or former welterweight champion Antonio Margarito. Arum said that Pacquiao plans to fight Nov. 13 regardless of the opponent.

As for Mayweather, well, only he seems to know.

"Like I said, I'm just supporting my family and relaxing," Mayweather said. "That's what I'm doing right now."

I'm not a fan of either guy but I'm sick of this supposed fight already. if they pick it up next year I hope no one gives a shit. Both sides have cried wolf far too long. In fact, this makes me hope Pac loses to who ever he fights next.

As everybody on here knows, I completely detested Floyd and basically wanted him dead. But I actually became a fan of his after he whitewashed Shane Mosley. Even though Mosley was long past his best and probably a better fighter with roids, I loved Floyd's performance. It's really unfortunate he doesn't want the Pacman fight. It would've been the first Floyd fight I would've ordered on ppv. He made a fan out of me in the Mosley fight and I'd love to see him do it against a top fighter in his prime.
Ah well, sad to see this fight won't happen. Neither fighter is getting younger. More time that goes by, the more interest is lost. Too bad for the sport. Would've been huge for the sport of boxing and maybe even huger in getting non-fans interested in the sport again just based off this one super-fight alone.
