Not what I heard. I heard Povetkin for some reason had his mandatory challenger status removed and instead Wlad will be fighting Sam Peters.
They're gonna hype this up saying Peter dropped Wlad 3 times. Fact is 2 of 3 were illegal punches and the 3rd knockdown was Wlad running backwards and falling into the ropes. Another fact Peter stands no chance and will be stopped mid round. Why is he getting a shot anyway I mean he already quit like a bitch against vitaly
It´s still stupid. It was the most money he could ever make. If he pisses off Wlad, he´s not getting Vitali, and Haye won´t fight somebody alive until he absolutely has to. I can´t believe he sat on his lottery ticket for three yeras and doesn´t even cash it in. Mind-boggling.
Wlad found a way out in order not to take the tests...classic bait and switch. Povetkin misses an appearance at a presser and Wlad throws a fake hissy fit and pulls out....sad
You know what? I kinda feel bad for the Klits. They were just wrong era. They are trying to get some good fights going but none of these bitches want any of them.
He didn´t pull out, because Povetkin missed the presser. The IBF is not that stupid. The fight is off, because Povetkin didn´t sign the fight contract in time, and therefore forfeited his mandatory rights.
I disagree. While they could certainly beat better opposition than they have, throw them in too deep & they wouldn't get near the dominance they've enjoyed over this crop. At best, it's a double-edged sword. They are good, not great, fighters.
Yes, and it is the sort of argument which can be applied to any fighter that anybody doesn't like. For instance: "Oh, hey, Mike Tyson was a hell of a fighter....but how would he do in 2000 years against those guys with genetic engineering? Huh? Huh? Ya hears me? How would he do fucked in deep against them" :dancingBaby::dancingBaby:
They're saying Povetkin will be removed from the top ten. http://www.fightnews.com/Boxing/klitschko-povetkin-off-53793
I think you are a little sensitive about the brothers, if I can say so qithout causing offence. I don't think I've ever disliked them --- either of them. There is a lot to like about them both.
I understand Atlas' predicament & know what he's getting at, but I have to agree. They are going about this the wrong way. It hasn't been fair-play to Klitschko, IMO.
I think Wlad should vacate rather than rematch Peter. Peter has far less left than Wlad at this point and a rematch proves nothing. There was more to be gained taking Povetkins undefeated record than beating Peter again.
After Povetkin and Peter, Adamek is the next in line in the IBF...that's a fight that will have interest....besides, if you think Peter's a bad #2, Tua's the #2 behind Povetkin in the WBO rankings.
Nobody wants to see Peter, & with good reason. He was a fraud from the beginning, anyway, & could only rise to prominence in a division as putrid as this (Peter would've struggled to make waves even in the 80's, though he probably would've eventually come across a title shot). Klitschko probably would be within his rights to vacate than be rail-roaded into that fight. The reality is there are only three fights out there for him of consequence --- he (& his opponent) refuses to take one, & another seems to talk a good game, but is looking worse & worse in not delivering. That only leaves Adamek. We'll see.
So Sauerland called it a "slave contract"...which is a different reason for not wanting to sign the contract than Atlas'...neither of which go to the point of Povetkin's nose. No specifics given, in this article at least, of why Sauerland told a Russian reporter it was a "slave contract"...I guess if he called it "slave wages" Povetkin (or his camp, at least) could be accused of mimicking Mayweather some more...but as the BoxingScene writer points out, this was Haye's language. http://www.boxingscene.com/?m=show&opt=printable&id=29484
