Anderson is finished. He finally hit the magical 35.

Belfort will KO him. Hopefully he retires like he said he would...

Well Silva pulled it out with a triangle at the last minute by the skin of his teeth.

Is it me or did they say at the begining that Silva was training in Akido under Steven Seagle?

WTF, I left after sonnen hit the takedown in the last round, as I was sure the fight was over. Incredible. But TLC is right, Silva is shot , he was even losing in the standup,

The Belfort fight will tell all IMO. Guaranteed standup fight and Belfort has the quickest hands in the sport. If Anderson's reflexes are as shot as they appear, he'll be layed out.

Although, the rib injury, if it has any credibility to it, could have placed an illusion of more dulled reflexes/explosiveness than what he really has left.

Unreal.... Sonnen had things go exactly as planned. He shouldn't have given up so easily. That was the same shit he pulled against Filho in their first fight. Fight to get out of the submission until you go to sleep just like Almeida.

This just goes to show that Silvas last couple of fights were lackluster. He has definately been slipping. If he goes to 205, he will have problems.

You don't seem too upset. I sure would be. Leaving before an mma fight is over is really naive. "Unbelievable" turnarounds happen so often in mma that they aren't even all that memorable, but this one will be because of the magnitude of the fight.

Yep.Sonnen was beating Silva in every possible way you can beat an mma fight he even got the better of the standup which convinced me right away that anderson is past his prime.I think Sonnen will when the rematch.

I was convinced Silva was past it when Maia got to him in the 5th repeatedly and Silva ran away instead of counterpunching.

Chris Leben might actually beat this version of Silva.

If he would of won in the manner he has recently. He would of never brought it up but Sonnen never gave him the chance to fight that way.MMA fighters are never 100 percent injury free.

Healthy ribs or not, Silva wasn't going to stop Sonnen from taking him down. Period.

Sonnen pressured Silva every inch or every round. Silva didn't have room to breath. I've got to hand it to Anderson for keeping his head in the game and working for a submission that late. After 4 plus rounds of getting his ass kicked, it would have been easy to fold.

    LOL.. Me too.

I don't see much changing in a rematch. Sonnen controls the fight but it's a 25 minute fight where Silva has many opportunities to end it. That's what made it such a great fight. And that's why they have to do an immediate rematch.

I am actually laughing at all you guys who are now saying Silva is shot or passed it! Fucking Hilarious!!! Just because your predictions of Silva KO1 got shot all to hell and BTG, myself, and Trplsec pretty much told you over and over that Sonnen has the style that will give Silva problems. Now Anderson is shot. Fucking classic, so predictable.:hammert:

He clearly is passed it, and I've been saying it since the Maia fight. nor did I predict Silva KO1. I didnt even decide on a result but I did pick Silva to win the fight.

Silva was complaining to his corner about his ribs between the first and second rounds. I'm pretty sure it was legit. Not that it mattered in the end anyway. It could have had an effect on Silva's sub attempts from the bottom which were few and far between. He really should have been a lot more active off his back.

I don't think Anderson is shot, that's ridiculous. He is however 35 and he's got to be slowing down a bit.

    Bingo.

Sonnen's wrestling had far more to do with the fight than Anderson's age. Look at Silva's resume. There isn't a wrestler on it near the level of Sonnen.

Everytime I say that someone throws out Dan Henderson. Henderson was a Greco-Roman wrestler not free style. Big difference especially when all of Sonnen's take downs were shots and not throws while grappling standing. On top of that, Henderson had fallen in love with his stand-up and his wrestling suffered. Ask Jake Shields.

As it relates to Silva, Sonnen is hands down, without question, the best wrestler Anderson has seen.

If Silva is not past his prime ,then I guess that means Sonnen has better standup than Silva? Because it sure looked like it Saturday night.

MMA fighters are never 100 percent. If Silva would have won this fight in dominant fashion he would of never brought up the injury. He better retire or at least stay away from Vitor Belfort.

I picked Sonnen because of that but I didn't expect him to get the better of the standup battle.Silva's past his prime.

Sonnen only did well standing in the first round, other than that he wanted nothing to do with standing.

People are underestimating how much a rib injury can hamper performance, at least potentially. It could have been the entire reason Sonnen did so well or it could have been a non-factor. We can only speculate, but to dismiss its possible effect is nuts.

35 is usually not that old for mma. Especially when you have avoided taking punishment as Silva has.
