Supposedly its not happening, at least not in Sept. No venue, no ticks are on sale, and neither is even in training camp. Cant say that I'm at all surprised.

2010 has been the most disappointing year boxing has ever seen.

As for the Ward-Dirrell Angle, a SMALL Part of REED Always Wondered if, If, IF The Andre's Could EVER Go Thru w/a Fight AGAINST Each Other...It's a Cliche, but These Guys R VERY Close...FOR REAL...

Ward Moved UP to 178 in the Ammy's, just so he & Dirrell Could AVOID Fighting Each Other in the Olympic Trials....NEITHER of them Wanted to Potentially CRUSH the Olympic Dream of the Other...

As IMPORTANT as a Fight btwn them would B, REED Seriously DOUBTS it'd B the Least Bit Entertaining, Based on their Friendship...

It seems their's alway's some kind of problems with Ward, it's getting very disapointing.

Andre Ward's a THINKING Man, for Better or Worse...He fought Bums Looooooonger than Most Prospects would've (Especially Olympic Gold Medalists)...

Even Though Ward DOMINATED him, REED Still Thinks Ward WASN'T Quite Ready for the Idea of Facing Allan Green, when the Fight was Initially Supposed to Happen...Next Thing U Know, it's Postponed for a Couple Months...

The SAME Thing is Probably Going On Here...The Whole "Homey" Aspect & Ward's "THINKING Man" Nature has Led to the Postponement of Another Super 6 Fight....

Ah crap. This is why these types of tournaments don't happen more often. It will be 3-4 years from beginning to end before they wrap this shit up.

If this was done in the 60's or even the 70's, this thing would have been wrapped up a year ago. :shit:

Wasn't there some debate about where the fight's going to end up?

Where can they put this fight and get a crowd if it's not near one of their hometowns?

Yeah, that's definitely a draw back. I understand why they did it for this big of a tournament, because you had so many champions and undefeated fighters and separate interests...but I don't think we need to see a Super Six tournament this big with the same kind of round robin format repeated in a lot of other divisions.

You can find plenty of years the past decade that compare favorably to this year in boxing.

Update from Lem Satterfield at BoxingScene...Showtime has sent "legal letters" to both promoters, threatening legal action and giving them three dates to fight: 9/25, 10/2 or 10/9.

Unbelievable that it comes to this. Why did these two guys even agree to be in the Tournament?

The Super 6 has Been GREAT For Boxing, but it DOESN'T Seem to Concluding Very Well...

Super 6 contains within it the seeds for it's own destruction. For openers, it's basically a rule that if something can go wrong, it will. Secondly put two managers in a room and fuck all will get done. Put 6 of them in a room and 3-times-fuck-all will get done. Then throw in the sheer geographical differences in question.

The ABC Heavyweight Tourney basically involved only two non-Americans, the Lindenberger and Bonavena. Quarry, Patterson, Ellis and Frazier Terrell Spencer and Martin were all Americans. Bonavena was US-based. Bonavena took the fight in Germany with Mildenberger, so the two non-Americans fought each other first. Bonavena won it so handily that there was no arguments about home-town decisions. Quarry had a close fight with Patterson but he had two knockdowns so nobody argued it. All of the fights which were supposed to go one way went the other and with little to no controversy.

With Super 6, you got 3 guys from Europe, all 3 of them being based in different countries, Denmark, Germany and England. Then you got the beefs with the home-town decisions, from Dirrell arguably winning in England, Kessler narrowly winning in Denmark, Ward with his Billy Goat tactics and then Fatty Shaw and his chicanery with the officials for the Dirrel-Abraham fight. Too much scope for upset and people saying they were robbed etc.

Then there were the injuries to two of the key protagonists. With the ABC Tourney, Quarry fought with fractured vertebrae. Kessler is withdrawing because of an eye injury and Taylor was basically forced out by doctors and family. Different times I suppose.

And to top it all off, the guy who came in for Taylor, Green, plotzed badly, and possibly the best 168lbr in the world, Bute, never signed up in the first place. ABC tourney was designed to appoint a 2nd Best in the absence of the best. Super 6 is going to appoint the best, in the presence of the best.

The tournament will still probably be a success, but a mitigated one.

But it's Yet ANOTHER Instance of Boxing Shooting ITSELF in the Foot in 2010, Neil...

Floyd vs. Pac WON'T B Happening...Gamboa vs Juan Ma WON'T B Happening...David Haye vs. Either of the Klits WON'T B Happening...& Now the Andre's R Tip Toe'ing Around the Idea of Fighting Each Other...

The BIGGEST & Possibly BEST Fights of 2010 R Those that DIDN'T Get Made...

And you could throw in Mosley-Berto (twice), Klitschko-Povetkin, Bradley-Maidana, Donaire-Darchinyan II, Williams-Martinez II still hasn't been finalized...the postponement of Cloud-Johnson, the pullout of Jermain Taylor and Mikkel Kessler from the Super Six.

But boxing fans did get to pay for Hopkins-Jones II and Marquez-Diaz II. :partie:

I'm more concerned as to how Kessler will be replaced now.
Ward vs Dirrell is one of the most boring fights that can be made in boxing.

Instead of being replaced, I think the talk was of eliminating him and Green, and going with Froch-Abraham and Ward-Dirrell as semi-finals.

That Makes the MOST Sense...Green Certainly DOES NOT Deserve Another Hefty Payday from this Tournament, After his "Performance" vs. Ward...
