Haven't heard much about this fight. Shane obviously looked washed up against Floyd but Shane has often been able to make exciting fights against certain opposition. In particular aggressive offensive guys. So my question is to those in the know, is Mora that type of guy and is there a good chance this fight will be good?

Also is anyone going to go somewhere to watch it (movies, casino, etc) or just wait for a stream? Because I can't imagine that the most intelligent boxing forum on the planet has any members who are going to buy this PPV.

And last but not least who are you guys picking to win and why?

Ponce? You actually enjoy watching that sloppy, slow plodding, no skills having mofo fight?

i can guarantee you that his fight with escalante will be more worthwhile than any other on that card.

mora's a slick dude whose reach and height should give mosley fits. can't believe this shit is on hbo ppv. anyways, what are the betting odds on this fight? i'd bet on mora if he's the underdog.

the card on Fox Sports Espanol (for those who get that channel) is much better and what I will be watching on Saturday.

That said, I agree with Neil that Escalante-PDL is the best fight of the night/weekend. I wish there was a (legal) way to watch that fight without having to order the card.

I'm hoping that Shane wins big this saturday. But he'll likely look bad.

Mora was able to beat Vernon Forrest so it's not out of the question that he beats Mosley. I don't see it happening though unless Mosley is taking him lightly. I think Shane still has enough to beat the Mora's of the world. I'm thinking it will be a competitive but clear UD for Mosley.

Plus, to the extent possible, Vernon proved his loss to Mora was a fluke by absolutely dominating him in the rematch.

I think Vernon threw the first fight.

Vernon had a bad shoulder in the first fight...rehabbed properly for the rematch.

i read Mora say something about they caught him off guard with the rematch. said he'd gained almost 30 pounds and had to lose it in 6 weeks...that's why he got his ass whupped in the rematch.

As if Vernon's folks told him to blow up like Hatton.

you buy forrests excuse but not moras?

how bout mosley's camps claims that he had a neck injury and a back injury from snowboarding in his last bout? and that the divorce distracted him

Vernon had multiple operations on his shoulder over the years. Are you saying Mora has a history of Hattonesque binge eating?

A back and/or neck injury would explain Mosley's listless performance. Then again, so would a lack of gear if in fact he'd used it previously. For example, against Margarito.

riddle me this, robert downey jr., would an injured rotator cuff be a valid excuse for a subpar performance in a close VICTORY?

I will be shocked if this fight is not :shit:

Mora will potshot and clutch and grab like a Dumbo Octopi.

Mosley won't know how to stop him from doing it and nearly every round will be hard to score, but nobody will care.

Who's on the card you're watching? Also I'm sure the PDL fight will wind up on youtube soon after, but I'm looking forward to the Harris-Ortiz fight over that one.

I agree with you Neil that Forrest's excuse sounds like BS. He had been getting shots in his shoulder for years so you mean to tell me they didn't give him a shot before the first Mora fight but did for the 2nd? Only way I buy that excuse is if Forrest had his shoulder surgery in between the first and 2nd fights.

As for Mosley's excuses when did he say that stuff Neil? I haven't heard a peep from Shane since the loss.

Wow, can't believe you guys view the excuse "I got fat", to be just as valid as torn rotator cuff.

    :scratcher:

Didn't Forrest also have elbow issues during his career?

“What happened in that fight is that Mayweather has a way of hanging on your neck and hanging on your head,” explained Mosley. “And my neck got very tight and I couldn’t throw any punches. People think I was tired. I wasn’t tired. I was just locked up and that’s a credit to Mayweather. Ali did that for years; grab people behind the neck. No excuses. He won a clean a fight. It’s just that’s what happened in that fight. I know to prepare for that next time. That won’t happen. When you fight, you are supposed to prepare for everything and that is something I did not do. His win, my loss.”

    http://www.maxboxing.com/news/main-lead/mosley-prepares-for-a-different-kind-of-fight

Mosley said his poor performance against the unbeaten Mayweather was not because of age, but from neck pain that worsened by the pressure Mayweather applied.

"He'll hate me for saying this," Mosley's friend, Hassan Abdul Rahim, said recently at a Mosley workout in Hollywood. "He had a back injury as well, from a snowboarding injury right before the Mayweather camp. We tried physical therapy and massage, but he still felt it. He couldn't move like he always does. I want him to say it. He won't. He doesn't want excuses."

Abdul Rahim and Mosley's attorney, Judd Burstein, also said that Mosley went into the Mayweather fight dealing with the financial headaches of his shattered marriage to the woman he had three children with, Jin Mosley. Mosley paid his soon to be ex-wife $1.2 million before the Mayweather bout, plus an agreement to pay another $2.7 million, Burstein said.

"Anybody who has that much taken from them right before a fight is going to be affected," Abdul Rahim said.

forrest had serious injuries to his arm/shoulder and several surgeries. i doubt that shit all of a sudden healed 3 months later for the rematch.
