Anyone change there prediction if Juanma vs Gamboa ever gets made? <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/jZ5ksDvCQ8o?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/jZ5ksDvCQ8o?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>
I know you will.....the last time it was Gamboa would KO Juanma....Juanma has no chance....i bet you will jump ships a few times before they step in the ring. my Prediction...Juanma by KO...
JuanMa will get hit, no doubt. I think he handles Gamboa's speed..well power. The question I have is whether Gamboa can handle JuanMa's power. That I'm not so sure of. If JuanMa gets in a clean shot it's lights out. Gamboa carries his chin WAY too high for my comfort. He's what...28? won't get any better. I've said this for a bit now...I think the kid is Joan Guzman Jr.
I see Gamboa coming out looking to blitz Juanma and walking into counter punches from jump off..by round 5-6 it will be OVER.
I'm still going with Gamboa but with a lot of reservations. It's not just because he's "there to be hit" but it's become a habit of his to hit the deck. Even though he's never looked really hurt a couple of 10-8 rounds could be huge if it goes the distance. I think it will a great one for fans regardless of the outcome though. It has the potential to be a war or even a quick knockout.
Either guy getting stretched wouldn't surprise me. But I think Gamboa catches JuanMa before JuanMa catches him, since the difference in speed is night and day.
Gamboa is going to have to fight John next depending on John's injury. Speed wont be enough. John will exploit every fault that presents itself.
Interesting as I think Chris John is the man to test the young upstart and believe of what I have read today that one of the greasy tin pots namely the WBA is obligated to enforce it. I'm sure slippery Bob will find a way out of this and have another double dip showdown should Lopez get by Marquez.
I don't know, maybe my TV is playing tricks on me. So, that WASN'T JuanMa on his ass a couple of months ago, against a fringe contender he had out on his feet just moments before getting dropped? That also wasn't JuanMa going life and death with a journeyman last year, the same guy who would get lit up three months later against Gamboa? I'm not denying Gamboa is flawed... just seems like a lot of people are denying JuanMa's own shortcomings. And I say there's no better time than now for Gamboa to fight Chris John, even better for him the longer it takes to happen. John was once a very good fighter, but is nowhere near his best and sitting out for well over a year by the time the fight happens (if at all) certainly won't help his chances any.
JuanMa seems to...add a few pounds....when he is out of the ring. I wonder if him and Brian Perez aren't hanging around a kebab joint somewhere.
gamboa is a stacked 126 pounder. in addition to his speed and power, i think his strength and size will also play a factor in overwhelming lopez. and i'm sure he won't walk in like ponce did w/ his chin right open.
I think it's rather simple. Gamboa wasn't fighting with his full potential because Salido is a bum. In his last fight Gamboa had something to prove in fighting the guy JuanMa had so much trouble with. So what did he do? He tightened up his defense, kept his hands up and fought more technical. If Gamboa ever fights JuanMa I'd expect him to do the same thing and fight more professionally, but against Salido I'm not going to knock Gamboa for taking that guy lightly. My pick is still Gamboa over JuanMa. I'll take high talent over the guy with overrated skills.
Looks like Lopez and Gamboa may fight in June 2011 for the PR parade weekend in NY. http://www.vocero.com/deportes-noticias/boxeo/13108-carlos-narvaez-el-vocero.html So with any luck first: Lopez/Marquez Gamboa/John Winners face off. Caballero should move to 126 but he'd probably still be ducked
It's possible that is when the fight takes place (although Arum kept hyping the New Meadowlands stadium as his desired location for this fight), but hesitant to invest any stock into anything reported exclusively by El Vocero - especially nine months out. My guess is that if JuanMa gets past Marquez, they both fight in the 1st quarter of 2011 before eventually moving to their head-on collision...and even then will depend entirely on how much JuanMa has grown as a box-office attraction. So far, he has yet to prove to be that guy outside of PR.
Maybe not. To be honest I don't know him and just assumed he was, based on Gamboa's usual level of opposition. By the way, exactly which Marquez is JuanMa scheduled to face?
I think this fight will be great. Both guys are good. But let's not forget - these guys are both Top Rank fighters, which means they've been matched up deceptively easy. That is to say, they seem to be a lot better than they are. A perfect example is JML's next opponent, Marquez. On paper, it will look like a good win. But on careful consideration, it isn't that impressive. Same goes for his win over Penalosa, who was clearly too small. When Arum says let's let this fight simmer, he's basically saying, let's make sure these two face opponents for the next 4-5 fights who can't possibly beat them. Arum must not realize that he's showing his cards like this when he makes that statement, but indeed he is. And it's why neither one (Lopez or Gamboa) will go near Caballero without first facing each other. I shouldn't single out Arum, because what promoter/mgr (they're one in the same these days) doesn't match their prospects up deceptively easy? But at the same time, TR is the only promoter I can recall coming right out and saying, "let's let the match-up simmer a while." Although, PBF, himself, I think, has said that in the past.
He's not a bum, but he's a little long in the tooth, and slow, and without crazy power. And importantly, he's proven himself durable and able to dish it out even in the face of a lot of punishment (see JMM/Salido). Turns out, with gear he's pretty formidable, as he was against Guerrero, but even without (presumably), he beat Cruz and Mtwaga, although he lost to Cruz as well. But it's a pretty pathetic unification bout. That's for sure.
Another prick post by you. :jaw: It's well known that Salido tested positive for roids following his "win," over Guerrero. It was changed to a no contest.
