    I don't think you can call Sanders a bum. Unless he is a bum that lost close, thrilling fights to two future heavyweight champions {Rahman and Vitali}

He's a Bert Cooper, a Ron Lyle, an Earnie Shavers.....a legitimate dangerman.

No need to call him a bum. If he's a bum, he's a bum that did a damned sight better with Rahman than Lewis on their first goes.

Also....you seem to be holding Hurricane Carter in much higher regard than I am. Hurricane Carter was whipped by just about every significant fighter he ever faced.

    Except Griffith.

Yes but they were Americans at a time when America was winning the Cold War. Now there is a Mosque in Manhattan and a big space where the Towers used to be.

    Help.

    They need somebody.

    Help.

    Not just anybody.

    Help.

    You know they need someone.

He also lost to Nate Tubbs....and a few random bums he picked up somewhere in the bush.....The truth is......Corrie Sanders never defeated anyone of note, until he destroyed the younger sister in 2 rounds. But that doesn't mean that Sanders is actually any good any more than the fact that Purrity destroyed Wladimira as well.......
The only two times prime Sanders ever stepped up in his career, he got brutalized by the likes of Tubbs and Rahman.
The fact that old, arthritic, beer-bellied Sanders demolished Wladimira speaks volumes about Wladimira....
And the fact that an even older and more arthritic, and even bigger beer-bellied Sanders is one of the greatest achievement's of Quitaly's career....Speaks volumes about Quitko's level of opposition...

Even Kellerman, it seems, has reservations about the opinions being aired here about Wladimir.

Nah, it's not completely political or racial.

Obviously some of "the powers that be" would prefer an American champ. Lampley cummed himself when Rahman knocked out Lewis.

Some bias/negativity will always filter down from the media. However boxing fans are a bit thicker skinned. (I'm speaking about real fans, not the "When is Oscar De La Hoya going to fight Mike Tyson" types)

The Klitschko's simply don't rub everyone the right away. However even their detractors are starting to (begrudgingly) give them some respect.

Not long ago some looked at David Haye as something of a "saviour".

Outside of England most people now would like to see either brother beat his face in.

Uh...Yeah...About that.....Losing to someone is NOT an achievement. In fact, it's the opposite of an achievement. I know, I know, it's a hard concept to understand for Quitaly's fans (whose biggest "achievement" are two stoppage losses), but I thought that was kinda obvious....

Al Cole? The cruiserweight Al Cole? The same Al Cole whose record against heavyweights is 2 wins, 27 losses, 19 of them by KO? And you're saying this is the best name on Sanders resume?

Well, I think we both agree on this point, so there's no need to argue :scratcher: Sanders was a washed-up fat and old never-was when he demolished the younger coward, and an even more washed-up never-was when quitaly proudly put him as the best name on his resume.

I'm not sure Mr. whiskey that you can call what he said devil's advocacy along with the two examples you brought forth. The truth maybe. Fact is Holmes did enter a division ripe for the taking with hold outs from the Ali era. Fact is Tyson entered a division with hold outs from the Holmes era. This era is at the very least as equal on the lame scale as it was in the era of Marciano which may be the weakest. The only real competitive era in boxing hev history is the mid 60's to mid 70's.

Sanders was knocked out by Rahman, who was terrible

his fight with Vitali was "thrilling" if you consider Vitali winning every round with relative ease "thrilling"

outside of that he knocked out Wladimir

thats his whole career... he wasnt any good

    Lame-on brewster was worse

Wladimir is the beneficiary of a horrendous division and he has fallen apart like a house of cards the only two times anybody ever really hit him back

at least Vitaly can take a shot

Ron Lyle was going to war with Foreman, leading Ali on the cards, thats better than all of Sanders' victories combined

you think its some USA! USA!" thing but thats horseshit

from my perspective, its a "Boxing Used to be great! Boxing used to be great!" thing

if it was political/racial thing, then why would a good half of my favorite all time fighters be from other countries, including one from Scotland??

    Three.

There's no evidence to support this claim.

:scratcher: Unless you blackout Lennox Lewis landing right and left off Vitaly's chin...

Perhaps, but you can't really blame him for that once he made adjustments to his game, nobody has been able to really hit him back

Peter nailed him cleanly. Williamson nailed him cleanly. This notion of Wlad not being able to fight through periods of difficulty is nonsense. He's not the best at it....but he isn't the worst either.

And he has never been KO'd either.

Sanders get's passed off as a bum and Rahman get's passed off as terrible.

    Fine.

But then Lewis can't have been as good as we thought he was either.

Unless his loss to Rahman was a one-off, sort of a surprise loss. :crafty:

Not to mention going toe to toe with Sanders who as limited as he was, was still a devastating puncher.

Peter and Williamson were DREADFUL FIGHTERS... Williamson was iced in a round by BABY JOE MESI

Rahman landed the luckiest shot of all time against a bloated, comfortable champion who did not take him seirously... in the rematch, the obvious gulf in class was vehemently illustrated... the onlt difference between the two fights was Lewis... Rahman was no different...

so a guy has to be knocked out Herol Graham-style in order to be proven "chinless"???

He was bounced up and down like a basketball by Sanders, floored by Willaimson, floored three times by Peter and floored by Brewster... he has a BAD CHIN, end of story

Lewis would have KILLED this fucking powder puff

Have you forgotten the beating Chris Byrd administered to Quitaly?
Should I remind you that it took Oleg Maskaev only a round and a half to beat the fraud down (with soft, amateur gloves, no less) ?

Eh....mighty Nate Tubbs went toe-to-toe with Sanders (who was actually in his prime and not the 41-years old version quitaly fought) and hardly flinched once.
And I hope you know what happened to Nate Tubbs when he went toe-to-toe with a real puncher, like Tua?

Chris Byrd was getting beat up, let's not rewrite history now.

Byrd was way behind on the cards. He's lucky Vitali injured himself punching Byrd's face.

Well, how many fighters have reportedly injured their arms against Byrd?

    Holyfield was one.
