Again with this bum thing. So really if Khan beats him, its really no big deal. Just another hand picked tomato can led to the slaughter. Nothing to celebrate. Should the bum put Khan in a coma..it will be a lucky punch, Khan had a hang nail, bad spaghetti or lack of sleep.
In allot of ways Khan is now Wlad Klit but 100lb lighter (and worse to watch). Similarities are many. If Rangers away tactics in Europe is 'anti football' these guys employ 'anti boxing'. Ruthlessly effective but a total affront to the beauty of the game.
It's a suprise :: Na, seriously, I have been uber-busy lately, the free time I get at the moment is few and far between. New job, new place, you know how it is, when I get settled it'll be back on bro.
agREED... this is the fight he's been accused all year of ducking. Yet the moment HBO made room in its schedule, he agreed to it AND to fight in the US rather than in England, no less. Both deserve credit. Maidana has a puncher's chance, which was enough against Ortiz, so can't discount here. But I don't see Khan getting too brave for his own good, which is to say I have him winning fairly big here. Still looking forward to it, though, just because it's two top 5-ish fighters facing each other which - regardless of circumstances - should be good enough.
Delighted that the fight happened? Of course I was; they were the best two heavyweights in the world at the time (or two of the best three, depending on where you ranked Vitali at the time). The fight itself wasn't any great shakes, but I gave Wlad credit for making the fight happen and especially under the circumstances, as Chagaev was basically the exact opposite of the guy Wlad was preparing to face (Haye). Not sure where you insist on the part that I never give Wlad any credit. I almost always praise him in any article I've written in the past few years, before his fights anyway. For the actual fight write-up, I call it like I see it, usually crediting him for a dominant performance against a credible challenger, but not always in the most entertaining fashion. Prior to then, he's rightly recognized as consistently taking on the best available opponent
Maybe you are right. Maybe I am taking a couple of ancient posts too far. Can't argue with the above. PS the determining factor in Khan vs Maidana is if Khan comes to win or make a statement. If he comes to win, he will win. If he comes to make a statement, he get's spread thinner than the filling on a Subway sandwich.
Right, so he can't win either way? Fuck it, he'll win AND make a statement, he gets dismissed WAY too easily on this place.
In what regard do you want me to comment on it? You can usually tell by watching a guy fight how legitimately heavy his hands are or aren't. Foreman, Chavez, Vitali, Maidana, Marciano....are good examples of guys you just know have heavy, heavy hands. Margarito? From what I saw of him against Cotto, 6-Heads, Mosley, Corley.....nah. Even Cotto, against Corley, looked like a guy with heavy hands.
You asked when Margarito starched someone with one right hand. I think he may have in the Gomez fight. Now, checking boxrec, did he starch Golden Johnson? In any case, I do think Margarito has excellent power and heavy hands, but there is also evidence to the contrary.
He's a big welterweight with a height advantage over everyone not called Paul Williams. How heavy-handed did he look that night. Bottom line for me is that he is just a big dude with a size advantage that get's the better of smaller guys from time to time. Throw in some wraps and he looks all heavy-handed.
I'm serious. Historically, the Order of Malta has facilitated this kind of thing. But that night they interrupted it.
I can see Khan sticking that jab in their keeping his distance, moving, circling and using the ring and all the while Maidana closing the gap by inches almost Hagleresque like and then...... I can also see Maidana trying to jump on him at the bell of rd 1 and eating a couple to land the big shot and not let Khan get in his grove. Either way Maidana is going to land
Speaking of Clottey I guess he's pulling a Quartey and taking a few years off. Maybe he'll come back in a couple years with dyed hair, less skills, and--if possible--less hunger.
