Just got back from the presser. Did they say $65 for the PPV?

Probably $55, and $65 in HD.

I don't get the premium PPV price always being defaulted for Pacquiao and Mayweather these days. People will watch, but just because it's the biggest fight being offered. It's not in demand - hell, very few even asked for it to be made.

Yeah they mentioned 55 bucks. They also mentioned this is going to surpass 1-2 million ppv buys. (I think I heard that correctly)

Yeah, I can't imagine many fans are buying more than a 1-3 pay per views a year, if that.

It's not like boxing fans have to make choices about buying Lewis-Tyson and/or Barrera-Morales II the same month or anything.

It definitely plays a part in the ppv numbers their fights get these days.

What do you mean surpass 1-2 million?

A number between 1-2 million seems a pretty safe estimate.

I was going to say, that just sounds like a tongue-tied quote. But as vague as "1-2 million" is for a prediction, it's possible the PPV doesn't even crack 1 million buys. This fight is already being met with a sea of bad press/reactions. I know in boxing, negative publicity is still publicity, but I would REALLY love to see fans send Top Rank and HBO a message on this one.

With the demographics of the two fighters, I'm not sure even a strong negative reaction can keep it under 1 million.

This fight seems a lock to pass the 700,000 Pacquiao did against Clottey...and unless there's a substantial number of Mexican Americans boycotting, this fight probably gets above 1 million, if not well above it.

Arum knows full well this fight will be criticized in the American press, he's okay with it....I guess it would be worth following what the Spanish-speaking coverage of this fight will be, but even if it's negative, given the Mexecutioner tag Pacquiao has, Mexican/Mexican American fans want to see Pacquiao lose.

Can someone explain how this is a championship fight? Did Margarito win a belt at 154 since his reinstatement or are they going to just create another one so Manny can get his eight division champion status?

Somebody is just shitting on boxing history by allowing this to happen.

For those of U that DON'T Like this Fight, Blame FLOYD...It's HIS Fault...

Pac Did Everything he Could to Accomodate Floyd's Demands, but as it Turned Out, Floyd "Wasn't even Thinking about Boxing"...Top Rank Then Dangled Pac-Cotto II @ Us, but that Fight's a FOREGONE CONCLUSION...

    So We were Left w/Pac-Margarito...

@ the Cowboys Stadium Presser, Margarito was Treated as a HERO...Jose Sulaiman's Son even REFERRED to Margarito as Such:lol:...The Predominantly Mexican Crowd COULDN'T have Cared Less about Margarito Being the Sports BIGGEST Cheat This Side of Panama Lewis & Luis Resto...It's as if the Handwrap Fiasco NEVER Happened to them....All they Care about is him WHIPPING Manny Pac's Ass...

But on the Flipside, there's ALOT of Fans like REED, who Feel Margarito DOES NOT Deserve this Fight, yet Can't Wait to Watch Pac Whip HIS Ass...The FACT Is, this Fight WILL Do a MILLION PPV Buys Minimum & There'll B 70-75,000 @ Cowboys Stadium on Fightnight...

I will watch it on a free stream or as a repeated fight a week later on HBO, but I will NOT pay a cent to support this farce. Shame on all those blind mexicans fans who continue supporting that cheater. Shame on Bob Arum for making this fight happen. Shame on Pacquiao for accepting it. I hope the fight is stopped by a headbutt gash in the first round and nobody wins.

Shame on Pac? Why? Who else was he going to fight? Marg is a disgrace but this is still a marketable fight. I don't think marg should be boxing and won't watch it but I don't blame anyone who wants to. It will be an exciting fight.

Did anyone catch the face-off on HBO tonight prior to the premiere of Boardwalk Empire?

Manny and Cheato were sitting at a table with Roach, Kellerman, and a translator. Kellerman mentions the handwrap controversy and Cheato replies "For the thousandth time, I didn't know" or something to that effect. Kellerman then mentioned that Pacquiao believes Cheato knew..and Manny seemed to get uncomfortable saying it just up to them to train hard and put on a good fight. Roach predicted Pac would stop Cheato in 8. Cheato seemed to be offended and asked "What does he think I'm crippled or something?" Roach replied "No, I've seen your last two fights."

Pacquiao will wreck Margarito inside of 8 rounds He is entirely too slow and easy to hit for Manny to not win sensationally.....regardless of the huge size difference

I would be surprised if this makes more than 450K buys. Filipinos aren't springing to pay for him to beat a guy everybody knows has been cheating to win. Mexican will buy one PPV, put a big screen in the neighborhood, and show the fight to everyone for $10. It's a joke. Of course Arum will put shit fights on the undercard. So this card is the titanic of PPV.

What's great about it. Margarito couldn't even beat a washed up old Shane Mosley, even Sergio Mora did better.
