This is a terrific fight IMO. The psychology in this fight is unparalled. You can see Gracie turn from being a smug arrogant fighter, to being toyed with my the Gracie Killer Sakuraba. The fight is long and you dont want it to end, but you can see what made Sakuraba an all time great. Enjoy this fight. <OBJECT width=480 height=385> <embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/dIwXsV2RWuI?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></OBJECT></P> <OBJECT width=480 height=385> <embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/t0zdNEGX2E8?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></OBJECT></P> <OBJECT width=480 height=385> <embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/S2JafNfkpvg?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></OBJECT></P> <OBJECT width=480 height=385> <embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/nb8JLnhmRMI?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></OBJECT></P>
I read somewhere that saku was the favorite in this fight (since he was a P4per and in a roll during this time) and that it was actually amazing how an inactive royce even lasted that long against saku , when it was thought that time that he would get owned.
Royce also had special rules put in place like no time limit on the number of rounds and no referee's decision. They fought for 90 minutes with Sak slowly wearing him down. Sak then went out and fought Igor Vovchanchyn for a round or two later that evening, but he was already tired out from the Gracie fight. Royce suffered a leg fracture from all the leg kicks Sakuraba threw.
I've seen a long version of this fight, but it isn't the entire thing. Has anyone seen it all? Have there been any no-time limit fights since?
