It looks like Marquardt will step in and fight Okami. I smell bullshit. I think the UFC pulled Belfort so he would be available to fight Silva in Sonnen's place.

They article doesn't mention what the injury was..

Just saw this. I hope you're right and Vitor will be fighting Silva. If not, his future has to be really uncertain with all these injuries.

Agree. The draw wasn't Okami versus someone. It was 100% about Belfort fighting at 185.

Damn I'm good. That was my immediate thought when I saw this.

I have no problem with the move, but I'm glad UFC 122 is free on Spike because it is a SHITTY card right now.

Very wise strategic move by the UFC (I bet UFC came do Vitor and said you're injured put this neckbrace on) Now we get Vitor vs Anderson which is an amazing matchup. Can't wait!!

I don't know why anyone would be excited for this fight. Besides the win over Franklin who is quite beatable anyways, Vitor hasn't done shit for years.

Vitor has very good hands. Fast and powerful. This would be a great stand up battle.

Vitor used to have very good hands, and has had good hands recently as well. But it hasn't been against very good opposition for many years.

Agree 100%. He beat Franklin at a catchweight. And Belfort is yet to ACTUALLY fight at 185 pounds. People overlook that fact like it's meaningless. It might not matter against a Miller or a Leben but it will against Silva.

You do realize that fight was more than a year ago, right? And the Silva fight isn't until early 2011 meaning Belfort will have been inactive for basically a year and a half.

He fought at 185 in Affliction, twice.

And yes, he's been inactive. Not that big of a deal.

Franklin is his biggest recent win, it was at catchweight, and Franklin is only average anyways.

True, Vitor is past his best and there's not much to his game than decent striking.

    Hamill, Okami, Tanner, Wanderlei.

Yeah, real average. There's a ton of fighter at MW, that'd beat Franklin...not.

Both are pretty good fighters there, and the fact that he's had a reputation from other WCs makes him an obvious choice.

I'll admit sometimes I skim quickly through articles. In this case; however, the very FIRST sentence kind of mentioned INJURY

So, in summary, the direct use of the word INJURY kept me from speculating on my own.

Seriously? Belfort is a striker facing a guy with impecable timing and counter punching ability and inactivity isn't a big deal?

He's been training the whole time.

Silva is washed up anyway, Vitor by KO.
