5 years after retiring and Tyson is still the most entertaining sportsman on the planet.:: That was pure shit, but Mike is an entertainment midas.
Nobodies laughing at him, he's just a light hearted dude now and the contrast with his old image raises a smile. Similar to Foreman i suppose, though i suspect Foreman's persona was much more contrived. I think it's a tribute to Tyson that people still care enough to wanna see him basically doing NOTHING.
the only problem is that people will want to research Tyson's boxing career and then discover that he was a overhyped fraud
Exactly... For what it's Worth, Mike's ALWAYS had a Self Deprecating Tone in his Remarks, so it Doesn't Surprise REED that he's Willing to Go OUT of his Element (This Particular Video or Singing Karaoke on the "Jimmy Kimmel Show")... Mike Seemed to GENUINELY Have Fun in that Video & @ This Stage of Life, that's what he SHOULD B Doing...The Name "Mike Tyson" STILL Resonates... REED:hammert:
Well, as Mike HIMSELF 1nce Said (Paraphrasing), "They Make me Take these Damn Pills to Keep from KILLING All of Ya'll" REED:kidcool:
I never said everyone is laughing at him. Just sucks to see him used by everyone for attention. Kinda like a kid dancing in the streets for peanuts.
The vid is cute. Tyson seems to be surging back in popularity even though boxing is far behind him. It kinda reminds me of many of the celebrity cameos in comedies. People like seeing it because it's so unconventional. Joe Blasko did cameos in The Cannonball Run and Smokey and The Bandit Part 2. For a guy who was so intimidating on the football field, he could be funny off of it, and people like to see that. Athletes who aren't locked into a role. Tyson WAS offered the part of Cleon Salmon in The Slamming Salmon. Now THAT would have sucked because it basically would have been them making fun of him most of the time. With this, it's Wayne Brady, Bobby Brown, and Mike Tyson in 2010 making comedy videos. Better than reading about Tyson doing a David Carradine in Thailand.
It never ceases to amaze me how people who spend their lives never getting near to earning what this guy did a hundred times over in his career, only to p!ss it all down the toilet, evokes sympathy. Mike Tyson isn't exactly the sob-story of our time.
And it's definitely better than him announcing a comeback. If he can stay in the spotlight and make some cash without getting beaten senseless, then good for him.
This. Who gives a damn what he's doing as long as he's happy. Boxing's full of sad stories (Mike included) and it'd be nice to see Mike end up being popular again for a completely different reason.
Tyson should be for hire for bachelor parties...charge like 10 grand per night to go partying in Vegas with rich people
