MMAFighting.com is reporting that the UFC is working on putting together a Shane Carwin/Roy Nelson bout for the UFC 125 card. Nelson is coming off knee surgery following his loss to Junior dos Santos at UFC 117 and if he isn't ready for the fight by January, it could be pushed back a month.

Interesting to see if he can KO Nelson and his granite chin before he gasses.

agreed, plus nelson looks way more comfortable standing than brock does and nelsons ground game is very good

I maybe in the minority here but I think there is a fairly wide gap between taking shots from JDS and taking shots from Carwin. This is the same Nelson that was starched by Arlovski.

I think Carwin drills him quickly and painfully if this fight happens. There isn't a fighter that Carwin has hit that he hasn't hurt. And Nelson isn't any different.

Nevertheless, this is a nice New Years brawl. Leben is also supposed to be on this card. Hopefully a couple of good undercard brawls will make the Maynard-Edgar fight easier to sleep through.

Carwin hits way harder than JDS and I think he stops Roy in the first.

Nelson has improved since his lost to Arlovski. Nelson has great BJJ. I see Nelson taking Carwin down and submitting him.

if roy makes it through this i can see dana making him take on the rest of the heavyweights in an over the top battle royal or taking on the cain-lesnar loser in a TLC match

I think mainly because he's fat. Another side note, is Roy is a vet in the game, he isn't some star struck 22 year old Dana can just run over. Roy knows the business.

This is a very interesting matchup. Your first thought is Shane will blow him out. But like I just said, Roy is a very crafty vet. He will come in with a good gameplan, believe that. And if you don't think all that experience will make a difference you are wrong. Watch Roy to run a bit, maybe even pull guard and see if Shane will blow his wad again. Roy will eat him alive on the ground. Literally, if Roy didn't get a big lunch that day he may take an arm home for a snack. I am calling Roy by sub in round 3

I think another reason is that he is not a product of the UFC, and he was really hoping that Neslon would get steamrolled to show "UFC superiority"

The picture in the first post explains it all. Seriously could you even imagine this guy as the champ of the UFC. He is amazingly talented despite his obvious conditioning problem. The photo seems to be a mock of the UFC image.
