Fedor Emelianenko, who recently turned 34, said that he wants a rematch with Fabricio Werdum, but he thinks that the Brazilian is trying to avoid him and delay the bout as long as possible (via RussianTranslations): This is where 'The Last Emperor' might be a little uninformed because Werdum has stated numerous times that he's open to the rematch, and is even willing to do it in Russia. After the jump, Fedor talks about being bothered by how fans obsess too much about his fighting career.
Here's the Problem, from REED's Perspective... Fedor will NEVER EVER Admit it, but @ Some Point he HAD to Start REEDing & (More Importantly) BELIEVING IN his Own Press Clippings...Shit, the Way that he BRAZENLY Jumped Into the Guard of a BJJ Guy ILLUSTRATES Fedors Arrogance...He Thought "I'm Fedor, I'll BEAT this Motherfucker @ HIS OWN Game".... REED Looooooooooves Competitive Arrogance, but Toooooo MUCH Of it Makes Losing Damn Near IMPOSSIBLE to Deal w/, if/when it Happens (Roy Jones Anyone???)....So Now, After Being Humbled, Fedor Wants to Chastise the FANS???.... REED::
Yeah, you make great points. There are so many different messages that come out of Fedor's comment and few of them help his cause. First, the guy obviously doesn't realize that his huge monetary demands now and in the future could never have be met if not for the way his fans "obsess". Second, as you said, he comes off as a guy that did believe everything that was written about him and when it turned out that he wasn't superhuman, he wants to blame the fans for falling in love with his own press clippings. Lastly, the biggest message I get from his comments is that his confidence has been seriously shaken. He is almost trying to prepare people for the possibility of losing again.
I doubt that even came from Fedor. Probably written by M-1. Werdum said he will fight Fedor, the fact of the matter is it's not up to Werdum or Fedor. He fights who Strikeforce tells him to. So he lost, big deal. Just because he is Fedor he thinks he deserves a rematch? get the fuck out, get in line and earn that shit. He got subbed in a minute. Who gets a rematch after being subbed in a minute? Nobody.
disagREED... BECAUSE he is "Fedor", he DESERVES an Immediate RE, in REED's Opinion...Let's NOT Pretend that there's Suddenly a MORE Deserving Challenger OR a Guy that the Public would RATHER See Getting a Title Shot... Fedor-Werdum II is AUTOMATICALLY Amongst the BIGGEST Fights in MMA History...Werdum vs. ANYBODY ELSE Pales in Comparison... REED:kidcool:
I don't agree, I don't care who you are. You lose like that and you don't deserve an immediate rematch. Neither one of them are the Champ anyway. Overeem is still champ.
Completely disagree with this. If he was thoroughly beaten down over 5 rounds or beat up then KO'd or submitted, I would agree. However, he was overanxious after thinking he had Werdum hurt, jumped into his guard dry, and got caught. Bottom line. I, just like most other MMA fans thinks he deserves a Re because it is almost a sure thing that Fedor will be more careful next time and destroy Werdum.
Fedor deserves an immediate rematch. Every great fighter is given this respect. Perfect example is Penn/Edgar. Penn had done enough over a career to not have to get back in line. And so has Fedor.
Come on bro, Penn was robbed fucking blind in that first Edgar fight and that is why he was granted a rematch. It had nothing to do with his status as a fighter. Had Edgar submitted Penn in a minute you know damn well he wasn't getting a rematch.
Robbed blind? That fight was close, but it was clear that Edgar edged it out. BJ was given the rematch because it was a close fight, and because he is BJ Penn. It's unfortunate that the word "robbery" has to be thrown around after every close MMA fight.
I don't see how, but that's your opinion. The majority thought it was a bad decision and that's why the rematch was made. Not for any other reason.
I don't remember "most" people saying Penn/Edgar 1 was a horrible decision. I remember most saying it was close and could have gone either way. Calling it a robbery is a major stretch Z. Penn did nothing in that fight to call that even a "clear victory".
