Shannon Briggs looking EXTREMELY impressive in a public workout

Oh my god. I know public workouts are supposed to be different than the day-to-day... but if THIS is a "showcase" for Briggs, then it is truly shocking how poorly trained he is.

During the video, as he shadow-loafed about the ring, he kept throwing his head back. At first I thought he was clearing his dirty locks from his face, but I think he was actually practicing getting hit. So that much is good at least as he will need that skill for his next fight.

It also occurred to me, as cliche as it is, that Shannon Briggs is an undisciplined fuck-up. He has strength & power, and moderate boxing ability. He can fight 2 very good rounds before exhaustion. For whatever reason, he just WILL NOT train hard enough to get in decent enough condition to fight 12 hard rounds, no matter what is at stake. Briggs probably loses to either Kiltschko even if he was in better shape - but it would be an enticing fight for me if Briggs could do 12 hard rounds. If a guy like him can keep punching and doing a little moving for 12, it is definitely possible for him to land a fight-changing punch.

But as lazy and apathetic as he is about his boxing career, he will again fight about 250 seconds before becoming incredibly fatigued and sort of standing around or doing the rope-a-dope while throwing ZERO punches and breathing heavily. That is not even an exaggeration; he usually starts breathing heavily through his mouth about 3/4 through the 1st round.

 

In fairness to Briggs, he is fighting a guy who looked a bit slow in his last fight and who is pushing 40 himself.

However,if Vitali makes it through the first 2 rounds unscathed, there is every reason to believe that the Klitschko water-torture will soon begin to take effect.

Briggs ran out of gas & was ultimately outgunned in a firefight against one of the greatest heavyweight punchers ever..... but he gave Lewis everything he could handle and looked very skilled. Neither clumsy or stupid.

He wasn't made a fool of at all, it was a good competitive scrap & he looked offensively dangerous throughout. He wasn't as good as Lennox Lewis, but neither was he clumsy and stupid. He was a good contender with very competent skills, and he gave it a proper go. By contemporary standards he was dynamite.

 

And in news just in: Downers have big ones, and Briggs seeks review of his performance vs Lewis.

Part of the reason why Briggs looked so bad against Ibragimov was because Sultan knew how to stink it up in a big way and Briggs couldn't throw enough shots to deal with it.

PS Marty Mulcahy is claiming an 83% prediction record (191-40) and has Vitali down for a 9th/10th round stoppage.

BTW this fight is the very definition of a non-win fight for Vitali, no matter what happens.

Any predictions for this one? Briggs is probably going to let it all hang out in the first few rounds, Klitschko did get tagged by some light but sneaky shots against Johnson and Sosnowski, I don't know if he exposed himself to punches in those fights with a view to getting his own shots off, but he did get hit more in those fights than in any other recent fights.

 

Whens the scheduled start time for this? 10pm GMT?

 

"Primetime" are saying 8pm but that, I think, is the card as such, rather than the main event. I should imagine 10'ish.

I was half wondering myself about watching the fight online on the official website, maybe if there could be a login details sharing arrangement it could work for all parties.

I would recommend looking at that website with the European name which suggests first person p2p and seeing what links they have.
