Did you guys watch a fight with friends who were completely gung ho for a certain fighter to win, and you say to yourself "man you are in for a huge disappointment because your boy is gonna get waxed". Then it happens and you just feel bad for the guy?

I remember it happened for Mayweather/Hatton. I have a British buddy who wanted to throw a party because a British fighter that he just became squinted with was fighting for the title. He barely knew of hatton from what he saw in the highlights and 24 shows. However, he was convinced that Hatton was going to destroy Mayweather and he wanted to have a party to celebrate it when it happened. I just remember thinking how disappointed he was going to be after the fight.

Sure enough, the poor guy acted like he didn't care. But the look on his face when Hatton was counted out was kinda sad. Like he just watched his Dad get beat up. Lol.

I have a Puerto Rican uncle and 3 half PR cousins. I wouldn't necessarily call them boxing fans but they certainly love Puerto Rican boxers. They invited everyone in my family (a bunch of mexicans) to watch the Hopkins-Trinidad fight. Huge party. My uncle bought a projector and turned his garage into a big viewing room for everyone to see the fight. Well most of my family hated Tito and celebrated crazily while my uncle stood in the corner of the room quietly watching. I remember specifically one of my uncles friends, who knew nothing about boxing, saying as he was leaving "Man after everything you had told me I thought Trinidad would be a better boxer, he hardly did anything." My uncle nearly cried, just nodded his head and walked the guy out.

Similar thing happened for the Cotto-PAC fight. I tried my best to tell my cousins not to get their hopes up cause Pacquiao would wreck Cotto, but they wouldn't believe it. "Cottos alot bigger than Morales & Marquez" poor fellas.

Lennox Lewis vs. Mike Tyson is the first that comes to mind.

I was actually up at the Boxing Hall of Fame that weekend and they showed the fight live at the banquet hall.

It's amazing the number of boxing people who were convinced Mike was gonna knock Lewis TFO.
