you ever see a lightweight Duran get hit with a two punch combo?

guy had amazing reflexes, especially when you consider how incredibly aggressive he was

true. I guess I'm also talking about hand-speed...and while Duran's handspeed was decent...it wasn't blazing.

Speed!: He invented the "whip Jab"; controled opponents with legs, hand, and foot speed. Chin: got off the deck to beat Ernie Shavers (who could knock down a brick wall!) Cleaned out the division beat up top level comp for years and talk some good sh*t while doing it!!!! Goto the tape.

Duran's POWER @ Lightweight is OVERRATED Also...The Vast Majority of his Wins were LATE ROUND KO's....He WASN'T a 1-Shot Guy by Any Stretch...

    Pacquiao...

Walking through beaten and weakened fighters' punches means you have a ATG chin. Nevermind being KO'd by nobodies TWICE.

Also, Mayweather at FW was back when he had one punch KO power.

To be fair, Pacquiao's two KO loses were clear dives.

One of the few guys who comes to mind as having a very good blend of speed, power, and chin, was Andrew Golota.

If a very good blend means the same as all were above average, then yes. Otherwise naming Golota here is a foul

Well I was going to say Tyson but then look at how often the guy got stopped.

Naseem Hamed had decent speed, a very good chin and excellent power.

Mitch Green had the chin and the handspeed but not the power.

Joe Louis had the handspeed and power, but not the chin.

Oscar De La Hoya was never stopped on a headshot, had fight ending power at 140 and really good handspeed.

Ray Leonard and Ray Robinson, especially at WW, are the closest I can think of what we are looking for.

It's really tough to think of a single fighter who gets mentioned in three different discussions: All-time great Speed, All-time great Power and All-time great Chin.

But I do think that compared to other heavyweights, Tyson is about the closest there is. Was he among the fastest heavyweights? Clearly. Was he among the hardest punching? Without question. Was his chin incredibly impervious? Yes!

SRR is the other obvious choice. Was his punching power all-time great? He knocked out Gene Fullmer with one punch! Was his chin ATG? I'd say so - he was what, stopped once in a career of over 100 fights? And speed? No doubt.

Strictly speaking, ATG, I can't think of anyone else. Mosley's record at 135, his obvious hand-speed, and KO % makes him tempting, but ATG? In all three? For what was pretty much a bunch of under-card fights?

ATG by definition is less than 1% of all boxers. 2% tops. So ATG in three categories? 1*1*1 pct. That's .0001% of boxers. Probably less when you consider that fighters often trade speed for power, or vice versa.

By definition, it's no more than 5 fighters, and I can only think of 2.

    Good post.

Tyson and SRR are definitely the best examples of this that spring to mind. As you said...very difficult to find guys with all three attributes at the ATG level.

Tyson's chin WAS concrete...the amount of times he was stopped does not reflect the strength of his chin.

I discount the last two stoppage losses of his career..because he was beyond old and used up. SRL got stopped by Camacho at the end of his career also....doesn't reflect on the chin of his prime. Against Lewis...Tyson took everything and the kitchen sink..and only went down after Lewis leaned on him after a punch...Tyson was hoping to get a break from the ref..and then realized the ref was counting..and decided to stay down. You can see this clearly if you re-watch that fight. Against Holyfield...Tyson was never dropped by a head shot and was stopped on his feet and against Buster Douglas he absorbed 10 rounds of brutal shots..one-sided, before finally wilting.

Tyson took bombs from Ruddock (Twice), Bruno (Twice), Alex Stewart, and a couple punchers early in his career.
