The approach that leaves no ambiguity is to format dates as, DDMMYY, for example, 02NOV2010, so that there's no way to confuse the date and month.

Sorting, at least programmatically, shouldn't be a consideration since dates are generally stored as something similar to a julian date, and are sorted accordingly.

Month/Day makes way more sense for several reasons that have been suggested.

You're American...you'd probably also say that it makes more sense for GRIDIRON to be called Football than for the other sport that actually sees the players using their feet 95% of the time.

Day/Month makes sense because the first is a component of the second which is itself a component of the third when it is used (Year). It's the most intuitive form that a date string can have...

In order for the way we all talk to correspond with what's convenient for the purposes of Librarian's filing system? Yeah that's makes way more fucking sense!

This is NOT the explanation, it's an arbitrary American Idiosyncrasy.

In the us, it is more common to hear 'November 3rd' than it is to hear 'the 3rd of November.'

Because it is so common to be referring to a month that isn't the current month, I prefer it the american way. It's not arbitrary, just different.

Where else was it gonna go?

'Yas, a good month for boxing! Brilliant.'

    'Agreed, excellent, about time'

    'Yeah this is indeed good'.

    'Really good'.

'Yup, William-Martinez especially will be interesting'

    'Then we're all agreed'

    'cool'.

Is the Maidana/Khan fight on December 11, the 11th of December, November 12, or the 12th of November?

Lopez by TKO As much as I would love to see Rafa win, I can't see him being able to keep the younger, bigger man from landing consistently on him. Unless Juanma gets wreckless and Marquez capitalizes :crafty:

Johnson UD Unless the weight loss dramatically affects the old man, he should be able to outwork Green. Johnson outwills him.

Matthyse KO Not familiar with him but he seems like a banger though, hopefully he wins and some more new blood is established at 140

Robert Guerrero - Vicente Escobedo I just hope someone gets KTFO, not a fan of either of these fellas

Manny Pacquiao TKO 10 Fuck Margarito, I hope he gets embarassed and humiliated. All this bad press on Manny being distracted feels a bit too contrived.

Paul Williams UD I must say this one is 50/50. The first fight was so close, but now with full training camps and experience with one another I feel Paul has more to benefit, but Ill be rooting for Sergio.

Carl Froch UD Frochs chin is pretty solid, he should be able to outwork Abraham. Really hyped for this one.

    Andre Ward UD

Juan Manuel Marquez late on cuts JMM has slowed down but it'll just make the fight a bit closer than it would have been a few years ago, I expect a great fight though.

Andre Berto UD I hate Berto
Celestino Caballero KO 7 should light Shitzau up at some point, he's game but he's just not good.

Amir Khan UD Id give Maidana a better chance if he hooked up with a better trainer but Freddy should have Amir more than ready

Victor Ortiz TKO 11 Close early, but Ortiz takes over late. too much power

    Yonnhy Perez UD
Abner Mares KO 8 to set up another rematch

Jean Pascal-Bernard Hopkins Pascal UD, please rid us of B-Hop once and for all. A KO would call for a celebration.
Erik Morales TKO 10 Bring on Marquez:shadow:

Ripper you left off Jones vs Soto from the list. Jones looks good so far, just wish that Top Rank would have matched him with a real 147lber.

This coming weekend I like Lopez, and Zab to win by stoppages, and Johnson and Escebedo to win by decision.

Next week I think Manny will light up the cheating sloth and stop him in 10.

I think P-Will will beat Martinez in the rematch by UD, but I hope I'm wrong.

Then on the 27th I like Marquez to stop Kat late, Abraham to stop Froch late, and Berto and Ward will dominate Herndandez and Bika to wide UD wins.

Dec. 11 I hope I'm wrong but I think Khan will UD Maidana. And Ortiz will ice Peterson.

Dec. 18th I think Pascal will out-energy ole man winter to a UD.

I suspect that Mike Jones could turn into this generation's Vernon Forrest. A guy none of the big names at 147 will want to face.

Know what? Im gonna pick Margarito just so I look super-duper smart on the off chance he wins. I think his size and willingness to let his hands go under fire gives him a fair chance (25%+ approx).

    Margarito SD 12.
