People talk about this guy like he's the greatest thing since sliced bread. Why? Because he drew with Pacquiao?

The biggest names on this guys resume are washed up versions of MAB and Casamayor.

Why is Floyd given no credit for beating an older Shane, but people go down on Marquez for beating a 38 year old Casamayor, and a bum in Juan Diaz?

Marquez was also beaten by Freddie Norwood at 126- years later he was considered good enough to make the leap up to 144 to face Floyd....

pacquiao has never bested jmm imo. but to answer the question of this thread, yea marquez never beat (officially) a great fighter who was in his prime but only because they were all bunch of cowards to face this guy when he was at his peak.

When do you consider his prime to be? I think Pac and MAB did fight him in his prime.

He dismantled Peden and made Gainer shit himself. Drew with and arguably beat Pacman. Only bad loss to Mayweather.

Marquez stood his own against a prime Pacquiao, something Barrera couldn't do and Morales only did once. His record might not look pretty, but there's no denying he's one of the best mexicans of the lower weights. BTW you can do that same shit with every fighter, try and diminish their record my nitpicking on it. I think you're obviously trolling here.

Are you saying there haven't been a lot of posters "go down on Marquez for beating a 38 year old Casamayor"?

I thought Pacman won the first fight CLEAR as day.

The second fight could have gone either way. I wouldn't argue if that was scored for Gay Marquez.

But apart from his excellent efforts against Pacquiao, he's beaten loads of fighters, just look at his record

The first fight was incredibly clear in favor of Pacquiao. Folks that scored it for Marquez were simply caught up in the moment. They were awed by Marquez' ability to survive. But in the real world, Pacquaio won by a minimum of four points.

I couldn't agree more. Seemed like people were giving Marquez rounds because he didn't get knocked down.

    Morales clearly beat Pacquiao.

Marquez lost to him. Am I supposed to give him credit for that?

This guys has been KO'd by random Thai guys.

Then why are guys like Floyd constantly scrutinized while others get a pass?

Surely, Baldomir and Mosely are on the same level as Casamayor and Baby Fat Diaz.

And a win over Corrales is better than JMM has ever done...

    Forum bias maybe?

I don't think anyone would argue that Marquez is a greater fighter, historically, than Mayweather though?

So this is really about Mayweather.

Maybe because Marquez has never claimed to be the Greatest LB. for LB. of All-Time.

Maybe because Marquez doesn't constantly run his mouth in the press about what a bad-ass he is.

Maybe because Mayweather is an asshole, and Marquez, as conflicted as he may be about Asian men..........isn't.

JMM beating Casa = Calzage beating Jones didn't really mean much too me. But to tell me he didn't beat anyone good is just a plane hater.

    Look @ it this Way:

Manny Pacquiao is Almost UNIVERSALLY Regarded as THE Best Fighter in the World, Lb for Lb...JM Marquez has Fought 24 Rounds Against Pacquiao & WON Well Over HALF of those Rounds...ARGUABLY 16 or more of those 24 Rounds...

Aside from Round 1 of their 1st Fight, "The Best Fighter in the World, Lb for Lb" HASN'T Looked All that Spectacular vs. JM Marquez...Add on the Names Gainer, Medina, Peden, Barrera, Juarez, Casamayor, Diaz (2x) & REED Doesn't See How Anybody Can Have Fault w/JM Marquez....

I didn't say it was clear. What I said was that there was no doubt in my mind. On the night I scored it for JMM and I even posted a retrospective card on a thread here, analysing round by round. I still scored it by one round for JMM, giving Manny the best possible doubt in each close round.

So far as I am concerned, JMM won that second fight.
