steve kim describes it has 'hit on the fly' or something like that, but we saw him do that in his last two fights where he quickly moves in and out of his opponent's range and throws punches from different angles. this is something we hadn't seen from him when he was campaigning at lower weight classes. has his footwork really improved or is this something he's able to employ against bigger and slower opponents? the bigger question is, would he be able to get away w/ this against floyd who's excellent at timing his opponents regardless of their speed and size? i think that would be a great deciding factor in determining the outcome. if it's something new that pac has mastered in the last year or two, then perhaps he'll be able to execute it against floyd. if this fight does happen, i'm still leaning towards pac but mostly due to his punching power, but there's no way he lands consecutive combinations against floyd like he did against cotto and margarito.
I think Pacquiao has improved his footwork a great deal, but it's true that's it's more evident against bigger slower fighters. Getting away with it against Floyd? That's the million dollar question. I'm also curious whether or not Mayweather will elect to be the agressor or the counter-puncher first. Years ago Manny wasn't very good at fighting going backwards but now he does it splendidly.
another thing i've noticed about pacquiao was his ability to counter punch effectively. he hurt margarito multiple times catching him as he charged in and he was also able to do so during exchanges against hatton, cotto, and david diaz. however, he wasn't able to do it against clottey but only because clottey wasn't willing to engage. i'm sure mayweather won't back up and fight like a fag, and it will be interesting to see how safe mayweather will be even when they're at close quarters. i know mayweather was hurt against judah when he walked into that right hook, but i doubt he'll charge recklessly against pacquiao. imo, pacquiao would need to focus a lot on the body and try to outwork mayweather than actually trying to knock him out. i hope this happens sooner than later (in hopes that floyd wins convincingly) considering how much mayweather's speed and reflexes have regressed over the years.
Steve Kim is so observant. For a guy whose eyes have been half-closed since Birth, he don't half make some hella observations.
The only footwork Floyd displays is his fancy moves to avoid fighting Pacquaio. Floyd is a punk Cupey
Pacquaio's footwork appears to have improved only because of the fighters he has been facing of course he's able to jump in and out and around guys like Margarito and Clottey against someone with proper footwork and 1 degree of lateral movement he would look like the same Pacquaio from the first Morales fight
I disagree. Pacquiao's footwork certainly will look better against slower opponents, no argument there. It doesn't mean it hasn't improved since the Morales fight. Ricky Hatton was no speed demon, but in terms of using footwork he was excellent at cutting off the ring. Sure he used a lot of borderline illegal tactics when inside, but he was able to get there often by quickness of foot alone. He didn't bob and weave or absorb tremendous punishment to get inside most of the time like a lot of pressure fights have to. However he could barely get even close to Manny. The "same" Pacquiao from the Morales fight still would've defeated Hatton imo, but it would have been far more grueling.
So U're ENTITLED to Get RACIAL w/Steve Kim, Because he Called Vitali Klitschko a "Quitter"???....Yeah, that Makes Sense... REED:shit:
