TLC, pls explain this why MW is more favorable than HW both in MMA today and in years past. I only want to know your reasoning behind this school of thought. I will not insult your opinion. Please share. Thank you.
TLC - again, please oblige the above request re: your thoughts that MW>HW in past and present terms. Thank you..
The whole idea of the "New breed" of HWs was essentially predicated on the fact that the HW division lagged behind in terms of development. Essentially for years, the division was dominated by one dimensional blown up LHWs. The fact that Mark Coleman, Igor Vovychan, and Bas Rutten and Kevin Randleman once reigned over the division shows how weak it is. Firstly, none of these guys would even be fighting at HW if they had started their careers now, secondly they would be easily beaten with their horribly one dimensional skill set. Same reason why guys like Sylvia and Buentello are nothing but cans now. Their are a few large, multi-dimensional fighters now, but it still doesn't stop the division from being an utter wasteland. Where guys like Overeem and Bum Rogers get ranked in the top 10. Middleweight, while weaker than LHW and LW is a complete proving ground, especially compared to HW. Not one guy inside the top 15 is not a proven commodity. Vitor, Okami, Marquardt, Silva, Wanderlei, even the mid-level guys like Leben and Rivera. Saturday will be a good example of the depth of the division, when two talented fighters in Munoz and Simpson square off. Mind you, both guys are probably at the 15-20 level, but that's what makes the division relatively decent. A fight of the calibre at HW would be a pathetic spectacle. Something like Gilbert Yvel vs Ben Rothwell, or Pedro Rizzo vs Tim Sylvia.
I promised I wouldn't pick you apart on this one and I will stick to my word, though I am in strong disagreement. I appreciate that you took the time to explain your position.
Seriously. You need to ignore this putz. The fact that he called Igor and Bas one dimensional bums yet refers to Munoz and Simpson at "talented fighters" says it all. I think the guy comes here and posts to get rid of his frustrations after his parents put him on restriction and take away his bike.
Both guys have passable stand up in order to take the fight down to te ground. Bas and Igor were strikers with no takedown defense and a limited ground game. Bas essentially 25 minutes on his back against the pitiful Kevin Randleman. Try harder to be less of a casual dunce.
Your GOAT Silva essentially on his back against the one-dimensional Chael Sonnen (who is nowhere near as great as you think he is, BTW) for nearly 25 minutes....... What does that say? When you, TLC, are the only one that holds opinions without a single person agreeing with a word you say, it means that you are wayyyyyyy off the mark. I understand your attempts to validate and spin things your way but it just doesnt work in the realm of common fucking sense.:atu: And the fact that your name is stolen from a girl-band doesnt help you much in the credibility department either. Back to the drawing board, kid. Collectively here at FightBeat, we all hope that one day you will 'get it' ray: It's time to send you a postcard with a picture of Planet Earth on it. On the back it will say "WISH YOU WERE HERE":bomb:
Chael Sonnen is one-dimensional? Is that why he rocked Silva with punches? Or outstruck Filho in the first fight before it went to the ground? Striking in MMA sucks, many wrestlers only need passable striking to get by. Sonnen has that and an iron chin. His ground control and wrestling are flat out world class. And that Silva got taken down? It shows that Silva is not a great wrestler, and a guy with a busted rib won a fight by a triangle to compensate that. Did Bas Rutten win by triangle, despite facing the easiest guy to sub in the world? No.
Because Bas was roughed up by Randleman on the ground BUT STILL WON makes him a limited fighter? Once again you prove you are a clown looking for attention. The disrespect you give to some of these fighters is pretty bad. You must have been bullied a lot as a kid....like last year.
This shows how much this little dipshit knows about the sport. Bas was one of the FIRST fighters to transition and diversify his game mid career. Learning the ground game after knowing it was his weakness and finishing his career with over 25 wins since doing so. Ignore the troll, once again just spewing misinformation.
You didn't watch the fight. That is largely regarded as one of the biggest robberies in the sport. This is why I don't like talking to casuals.
Well good, this "one-dimensional" fighter is so good that apparently he is still the number 2 MW in the world. Interesting...
TLC is like the young kid who thinks Transformers is the greatest movie ever made because its new and he came while watch it. And when you bring up Godfather to them, he brushes is off and points you to the boxoffice Numbers.
although i am definitely not taking your side (fraudor, etc) bas got handled easily, this was one of the worst decisions ever.
No. That's how you spell "Everyone." And no, my spelling is pretty much perfect outside of the odd proper name that I don't feel like researching. I am not a European linguist, so whether or not I know how to spell Igor's last name is irrelevant. Specific? Sherdog? MMAPlayground? Fightmatrix? What MMA publication, or even fan, doesn't have Chael number 2?
