Hatton breaks him down and stops him mid-rounds. This is, and always was IMHO, an awful style match-up for Khan. He doesn't hit hard enough and isn't fluid enough to keep a prime Hatton away from him. MTF
Hatton has quick feet can slip the odd jab and can get inside Khan's range. Error code, program not responding.
We haven't even seen the best of Khan yet. I lean slightly towards Ricky at this moment in time but Amir I believe will prove himself better in the coming years.
Khan can run one program. That's all his CPU can handle. He'll look great against certain guys; guys who are passive with range or have slow feet, or can't defend a jab effectively...... and get KO'd against other guys who can get inside on him consistently. The best guys in the sport can apply multiple styles and adapt - that'll never be Amir. He can't fight inside FOR SHIT, and probably won't ever be taught how because his chin doesn't make it a viable strategy anyway. Khan is and will continue to be a good fighter and he's developing into a GREAT one at one particular aspect of the sport, but he'll never be a Floyd Mayweather, Bernard Hopkins or even an Andre Ward level fighter because that takes versatility. He's a Margarito, Mosley, Williams level guy at best - a guy gifted at one style, which'll work great against some and terribly against others.
I'm a reasonable defender of Khan most of the time, but as Hut says, he is all wrong for a prime Hatton, style wise. He will dominate guys unable to get inside his jab, but Hatton has much, much better lateral movement and would get inside and mangle Amir inside. Hatton had no answer to blinding speed and angles. Khan is fast but he is all straight lines. Hatton always dealt comfortably with that type of fighter. MTF
Neither guy really beat him by outboxing him from the outside anyway though, angles or no. Pac beat Hatton by slugging him out. He couldn't stop Hatton getting inside, he couldn't stop him forcing him back or swarming him and he reverted to the role of puncher out of necessity. That's an adaptability Khan doesn't have. Floyd couldn't keep Hatton outside until the later rounds either. He get the W because, against A) strategically he also knew to sit down on heavy pot shots since multi punch combos were gonna be smothered out. Khan might make that adjustment under Roach, maybe not, but he isn't gonna spark Hatton early like Pac did. What got the job done for Floyd in the absence of that kind of power was B) being able defend himself exquisitely on the inside when Hatton got there. Without that he loses. These are just facets of the game Khan doesn't have.:boohoo: Hatton KO 5.
Roach would drill into Khan to jab and run, and it'll work for a few rounds. But Hatton sooner or later would get in his range and stay there, and Khan's amatuer style can't handle that. Hatton TKO 7
even Mayweather had fight on the inside and get rough with Hatton alot of the time no way Khan can run
