While REED Doesn't DISapprove of Stallone's Inclusion, Necessarily, the Whole Thing SCREAMS "Publicity Stunt"....& Given that Tyson & JCC's Inductions will Generate MORE than Enough Publicity on their OWN Merits, REED Thinks Sly's Induction Should've Been Pushed Back a Year or So....

I don't think Tszyu is undeserving (as some do) of induction, but doesn't this make him first or second ballot? That's obscene. There are dozens upon dozens of superior names who have, & continue to, wait decades for induction.

 

tszyu was an excellent fighter. had a great career, both amateur and pro. not sure what other candidates were on the list though.

I always thought Tszyu was overrated as a fighter and his carreer as well.

Stallone in is a fucking joke. I understand what Rockie did for the sport but it was a fucking movie.

he didn't take 10 years of actual punishment to get in. That's a slap in the face to real boxers that did the work and took somedamage to even be considered in the HOF.

 

I suspect this will be one of the most attended weekends in years.

 

I don't see why it's such a terrible thing. He's getting in as an observer/non-participant for writing/producing/acting the Rocky series. The boxing HOF is filled with writers who contributed to the sport.

The only problem I might have with this is that I believe all the writers in Canastota covered the sport, instead of just writing boxing fiction. Budd Schulberg did both, but he's less correlated with writing boxing for SI and much more correlated with writing The Harder They Fall and scripting On the Waterfront. I don't know what the voters thought but my guess is that those two works of fiction played a much bigger part in him getting enshrined than him doing boxing for SI.
