For a free Thursday night card, you can't do better than this. Two Championship fights and a full card of contenders is a great way to stage a final WEC event. And one of the cool things about the WEC Lightweight title fight is that the winner gets the winner of the Maynard-Edgar fight in a title unification bout. As far as guilty pleasures go, Kamal Shalorus is on the card against a very good Bart Palaszewksi. Shalorus is really just untamed aggression. It isn't pretty but it's fun to watch. I personally think his fight from August with Jamie Varner is one of the top fights from 2010. Main card Lightweight Championship bout: Ben Henderson (c) vs. Anthony Pettis Bantamweight Championship bout: Dominick Cruz (c) vs. Scott Jorgensen Lightweight bout: Donald Cerrone vs. Chris Horodecki Lightweight bout: Bart Palaszewski vs. Kamal Shalorus Lightweight bout: Zhang Tie Quan vs. Danny Downes
Shalorus is a tremendous disappointment. If he did the unthinkable and actually shot for a blast double, I might jizz my pants.
How did that one judge score the fight 30-27 for Kamal ? I mean he got pretty much schooled in round 3. Close fight. Round two was a toss up.
If that kick resulted in a KO it would have been the craziest shit ever that would have never ever been topped
If Benson stayed down and I don´t know how he didn´t, it would have been the greatest KO of all time, Unreal. :hammert:
By the way the fight was scored way too close. I personally gave every round to Pettis except the first
That was the coolest thing i've seen all year....though it didn't score a KO, it could have been crucial in him winning that last round. I thought he was winning it before he went all Neo, but it may well have made up the minds for one or two of the judges. A genuine 'wow' moment, and what a way for the WEC to sign off.
I'm surprised shit like that is even legal. You basically can't even touch the cage with your hands but yet you're allowed to run up it like that ?
Also let me add this. That guy Jorgensen when I first saw him fight a couple months ago I kinda felt sorry for him cuz his body was covered in what seemed to be semen but then by the end of the fight I couldn't stand the guy. For somebody who looks like he just came from a shoot of a gay gangbang bukakke he sure is a fucking arrogant asshole. I'm glad he got his ass kicked tonight.
All I can say is WOW. not to rain on a parade, but I still don't think either one of these guys beat a top 10 LW in the UFC.
Honestly though, another great reason to love Herb Dean. There are a ton of refs that would have jumped in the minute Henderson hit the ground. Dean was close to the action and knew Henderson could continue. Great job by Herb Dean.
How? Benson judged the distance correctly and rightful expected to be out of reach until Pettis caught him with that Matrix shit.
There are a million fighters that could have 2 tons of luck and not pull that kick off. There was luck involved but it doesn't happen unless Pettis is a skilled dude.
what's pettis' background besides tae-kwon-do? that's pretty cool that we have another machida'esque guy, but this kid's young and smaller. i know machida is a karate master or whatever, but people also forget that he's been practicing judo and ssirum all since his youth. not sure what pettis' other disciplines are.
Seriously, and he falls flat on his face. We would all be saying what an idiot for attempting some stupid shit like that. That is a once in a lifetime move. He will never land it again. But it will be on highlights forever.:cheer:
