    NO....

Paul wins a few rounds early...but get punished in the mid&late rounds...and is stopped before the final bell...

    WHAT?

This is SO TYPICAL of boxing fans.

Guy loses and all of a sudden his stock plummets.

    Who did Vargas ever beat?

Tall Paul gives this guy FITS

Actually to be fair Irish... most of us said Vargas would punch holes in Williams years ago.

Okay.........Winky Wright had Vargas beaten. I think Tall Paul can turn the trick here....he's tall, long, a southpaw, throws a load of leather, and does have a decent chin, prime for prime. He also has beaten Margarito, Maravilla, Winky, Quintana.

I think he can beat Vargas. Vargas has become overrated in retirement.

I'd rather put Williams in with McClellan

This would've been a fucking great fight - an unbelievable war. Vargas faster than Margarito. Paul is tall and brave.

Does Vargas have a chance? That's the more valid question. He would have beaten down Nando.

See. I don't think that's a valid question at all. I think if you consider all that Vargas accomplished at 154, and all the ability he demonstrated, there's no question but that he had a chance against Williams.

What did Williams ever do at 154 to suggest that Vargas wouldn't even have a chance against him? Let's not forget: Williams barely beat Martinez before getting knocked out by him. He barely beat Margarito (although it's probable he should get the utmost respect for this win given that Margarito's gloves were likely loaded and it's not clear yet that Williams, like Vargas, wasn't himself compromised physically by the cheating of opponents - namely, the use of foreign objects in gloves). Williams lost to Quintana. Does anyone think Quintana would have a chance in hell of beating a prime Vargas? I know that's not the whole story - who beat whom. But to ask the question - does Vargas even have a chance? That's just silly.

not sure who wins, but it would've been a fun fight for sure. based on strength and power, i slightly lean towards vargas to win on points.

It's the other way around. Vargas was not only a very bad dude early in his career, he was a very skilled fighter to boot. People forget that.

Whereas I've never been impressed by PWill, before or after Martinez.

    I'd take Vargas, 8 rounds to 4.
