Mosley says that G's seemed to prefer to match JMM up with Pacquiao over him, they've been overly friendly with his ex-wife Jin inviting her to fights and what not, and they sent him a $1000 dollar check telling him he was just bought out of his percentage in G's. Shane sent the check back and plans to sue. You can read the rest here: http://www.boxingscene.com/?m=show&id=34439 I always got the feeling Oscar was never really Shane's friend and that G's didn't seem to like him being around the last few years.
$1000??? so what is Mosleys share of G, 0.0001%???????????????????? this wouldn't actually suprise me, and they just used the Mosley name to build rep....Hopkins share is probably about the same:Giggle:
I believe it's true. Shane is actually very dumb. Hell, even Brother Naazim put him on blast during a conference call last year saying he conceded way too much in making the fight with Mayweather. Not to mention that Golden Boy isn't the money-making enterprise everyone believes to be the case. It's possible that Shane's percentage in the company was limited to profit sharing.
What did he concede to exactly? He called Floyd out when it was convenient for him and Floyd pulled his bitch card.
Chief among them, that he settled for a flat fee (though a career-best payday) rather than negotiate a piece of the pay-per-view upside.
'Stupid' or just not obsessively money oriented? The guy's made millions upon millions, holding up fights over 'conceding too much' is basically just an ego thing at that stage. Thinking you have more than you do like here & spending on that basis would however be a case of stupidity.
He still made multi millions. How much money do you need? If I have inside info that there's an $8m winning lottery ticket at one store and a $9m winning lottery ticket at the store over the road Im not sure I'd bother crossing.
Naazim's point was that if not Shane, then Mayweather's options were pretty damn limited - the man even talked about facing MATTHEW Hatton. In effect, Shane had plenty of leverage, but settled for much less than he could've pulled in without even trying very hard.
Yeah, and much of those multi-millions have went towards maintaining Jin's lifestyle during marriage and now through divorce. The fact that he's still fighting... suggests that he still needs the money pretty damn bad
Shane's problem is he "really" believes he can win all of the fights he takes (including the Mayweather fight). And so his thought process is probably, "well, after I beat PBF, then I'll stick it to him when he wants a rematch. Why go through the aggravation now?"
I'd guess Mosley does need the money, he doesn't seem like the kind of guy who has put aside very much - as stated, I'd say much was eaten up by his former wife, and now he's on a grab the cash mission to make as much as he can before he retires or cant make it any more
He does, I don't dispute that. But as his gold-digging ex-wife proved, fighting for the love of it doesn't balance a checkbook or fill up a savings account.
Agree. It was probably Hopkins idea to send Shane the $1000 check. :: It was only a matter of time before all these egos started stabbing each other in the back.
Hopkins actually always went to bat for Shane, probably for the sheer joy of pissing off the establishment. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a $1000 check in Bernard's future as well.
Nah, Bernard's smarter then that. He's probably got pictures of Dela and Schaefer wackin' each other off as collateral.
speculation more than anything else (and no, none of it having anything to do with what Arum tried to gossip about). While it's not proven fact, more than several credible sources have confirmed that The Ring is tanking. They (the Ring) have even cut way back on their expenses which has limited their live coverage of any given event. Same sources have suggested that Oscar was asked to invest a considerable amount of his own savings back into the company, which was supposedly the reason why he's been more vocal than in the past couple of years. I'd have to imagine their Club Nokia series is a smash hit. I mean, they draw somewhere around 2,500 for club fights, which can't cost them very much. But beyond that, it's not so much that they're making a ton of money, that they're looking to save more money. Marquez-Diaz came with a relatively low budget, to where 200,000 PPV buys was considered a success. Alvarez should prove to be a draw for them, but beyond him, not a lot guys left in their company that's putting asses in seats or in front of the TV.
what makes you guys think Hopkins is smarter than that? the guy has never said or done anything to prove he was anything but dumb as dogshit ...and he has zero fans who would pay to see him fight....yeh i'm sure DLH bent over backwards in a desperate attempt to make him part of G ointlaugh: G will eventually send him a carton of eggs to buy out his share, and it will be delivered by a fatogram :egypt:
Given Hopkin's all-pervading paranoia, sense of injustice, and the fact that he seems like the type to still have his communion money, I doubt the thought has not occurred to him that he might be shafted
