Double M was relatively untested at 175, still his speed and power at this weight were almost scary. How does he fare vs the following light heavys from the 80's and 90's: Saad Muhammed Eddie Mustafa Muhammed M.Spinks Yauqi Lopez James Scott Dwight Qawi Virgil Hill Charles Williams Marvin Johnson RJ Tarver Michealsheski
He knocks out Tarver and Williams, wins close decisions over Hill and Michealsheski, loses to Spinks (decision),RJ (decision) and not sure (or care) about the rest.....
I'll break it down then Sly. I agree he KO's Williams, and Tarver, he'd have Hill running for his life all night. Probably would bust DM up and win by UD. Gets schooled by Roy, KO'd brutally by Spinks. Saad Muhammed wears him down and stops him late, EMM picks him apart and stops him late. Qawi steamrolls through him and stops him late. Yauqi Lopez, James Scott, and Marvin Johnson would outwork him.
I don't trust Moorer's chin vs Saad. He gets KOed in a fight he's winning IMO. Eddie out-boxes him, Spinks decapitates him. Moorer stops Lopez, Scott, Pops, Williams and Michalczewski in brawls IMO. There's a good chance that Moorer stops Hill while down on points, but I like Hill to win a decision. Jones and Qawi beat the fuck out of MM. Tarver vs Moorer is a good fight. I think Tarver's chin wins it for him.
In the 14 years since I made that post, my opinion has changed on a few of these matchups. I would take Virgil Hill to outbox Moorer. But I would take Moorer to stop Lopez, and beat up Scott. The rest, I still agree w/my younger self on.
Stafford was such a fuckin casual. He wasn't sure because Spinks and RJ were the only names on the list he knew.
I'd be leery of trusting his chin against any of the big punchers listed here - at best it was untested/unproven, at worst it looked pretty shaky in the 1st Swindell fight. Out of all the fighters on this list, I think the one that Moorer matches up the best against is probably Dariusz, given his struggles with southpaws like Rocchigiani and Hall. But overall, I think Moorer is too much of an unknown quantity to make a reliable pick one way or the other in many of these fights.
