Bruno was really a terrible heavyweight champion. It makes me laugh to see him with that WBC title......Bruno had 2 really decent performances in his life. One was against McCall, who was high, and the other was the bit against Lewis before Lewis nailed him. He did beat an ancient Bugner and had decent wins over Coetzee and Tillis, either side of the loss to Tyson.

Sanders for his part has that win over Wlad, a KO of Czyz, that 8 rounds worth of brawl with Vitali, 7 rounds of brawl with Rahman. In those losses he had his moments. Useful wins over guys like Sprott, Bert Cooper, Al Cole...and 4 amateur wins over Botha.

Both men had a habit of getting tired, both men enjoyed big moments in fights they lost.

I would give Sanders the edge on his fast start and handspeed.

    Fuck it. Sanders in 1.

I don't know how your second paragraph implies Sanders is so much better than Bruno. Knocking out under-sized, under-achieving Czyz, an effectively done Cooper, & losing to the deplorably Rahman are highlights?

If Sanders is better than Bruno was, it sure ain't by much. They're both good --- but only barely --- fighters. Sanders in one round? Either man could beat the other.

Yes. Either man could beat the other. I know that. At heavyweight, especially with flawed fighters, that can happen easily. As for Czyz, he did do OK against a fresh Holyfield for a few rounds. Cooper was done in 1993? He should have still been plenty dangerous in 1993.

Hasim Rahman went on to win the Heavyweight title 1 fight after he beat Sanders. He beat Sanders and Swindell to get a shot at the title.

Ah yes, those were the glory days. :shit:

Rahman is & always was a terrible fighter. I mean, Carnera was also a champion. Both beat very good fighters to win those titles, but it doesn't make them good in their own right, it's fair to say. To lose to a fighter of Rahman's quality is as bad as any defeat Bruno has on his record.

    Bruno lost to Tim Witherspoon.

Lewis lost to McCall and Rahman.

    Bruno beat McCall.

You see where this is going?

Yes. I do not, however, see any great distinction between Sanders & Bruno as quality fighters. How many of Sanders' victims went in one round? How many blew out Bruno in one? It took Tyson five rounds, & he had Bruno hurt & shaken in the first stanza.

Bruno wins this one. Sanders is one fighter who would probably gas before Bruno does.
