Jamie Varner is good fighter. But Hicks is a tough dude. I just re-watched his fight with Ed Ratcliff. Hicks had his left eye basically swollen shut, spent most of the fight on the bottom, but he kept fighting and choked Ratcliff out.

Both guys are well-rounded, but Hicks impressed me with his Jiu-Jitsu.

Personally I'm looking forward to all 3 Championship fights, but there are a couple of preliminary bouts I hope they show.

REED's Biased, but Marcus Is Undeniably a BADASS...U Should See how Peeps Tip-Toe Around him here N Dallas:lol:...He's NOT a Prick or Anything, but he's 1 of those Dudes that Everybody's Careful NOT to Piss Off...U Feel TOUGHER just Hanging Around the Dude:lol:...If REED Could Call ONE Guy to Bail him Out of a Physical Jam, he WOULDN'T Hesitate N Dialing Up Marcus Hicks...

U're Thinking of the Sergio Gomez Fight...

Sergio IMMEDIATELY Closed Marcus' Eye w/a Shot in the 1st Round...Dropped Some MASSIVE Shots on Marcus Throughout, then Got TAPPED w/the Guillotine...No Doubt, Marcus was LOSING that Fight Until the Very End...As Marcus Explained Later, "Gomez Made a Mistake by Getting on the Ground w/Me. I Couldn't See @ All when we were Standing and He was Clocking me All Fight Long, but I DON'T Need to See to Execute my Jiu-Jitsu"...

Marcus didn't Have ANY Trouble Whatsoever w/Ed Ratcliff...Ratcliff Tapped N about 60 Seconds...

Varner is a pretty good fighter with some good submissions, and he looked great upsetting McCollough back in Februrary, but Hicks looks to be the real deal, and seems to be solid both on his feet and on the ground. Although this is a Huge step up for him.

I'm picking Hicks by KO in the 3rd.

Thanks for the correction. I had Ed Ratcliff on the mind for some reason.

Unfortunately concrete ain´t very bright. He basically begged the other guy to kick him in the head.

That was a nice fight, but a BS stoppage with 15 seconds left, the white guys took the same amount of unanswered punches. Can´t win a fight in America as a foreigner.

Damn, sorry bro. Hicks is strong as fuck and as tough as hell, but the guy needs to work on the stand up. Luckily MMA isn't like boxing and a loss isn't a big deal. He'll be back soon, hopefully polishing up the stand up a little better.

Yeah, Last Night SUCKED Pretty Bad for Ol' REED...

Everything was Going GOOD til those 2 Knees...Marcus was SLAMMING Varner @ Will (though he Couldn't KEEP Varner on the Ground)...He even Locked a Guillotine on Varner Momentarily...@ that Point, REED was On his Feet SCREAMING @ the T.V...

Marcus Blocked a Telegraphed Right Leg Kick then Got COCKY...Then Varner LURED him into those KNEES...

From There it was a MASSIVE Beatdown:doh:...

REED Counted about 6-7 FLUSH Knees to the Grill AND about 20 FLUSH Punches...What AMAZED REED was how Marcus GOT UP while N the Midst of Being PUNISHED, but he was Only Delaying the INEVITABLE...

Varner LOOKED like a Champion Last Night...All Props to the Cat...& REED is Proud of the HEART & TOUGHNESS Marcus Showed...Considering those 4 oz. MMA Gloves & the Amount of FLUSH Shots he Took, REED was SHOCKED that Marcus wasn't Completely UNCONCIOUS...

U're Right about the "Loss" Thing...It's No Biggie...Sure, it's EMBARASSING (Marcus Still HASN'T Returned Phone Calls:lol:) & his PRIDE is Stung, but it WON'T Affect his Career if he Doesn't Allow it to...He's Got @ Least 3 Fights Left on his WEC Contract...

Marcus' Former Boxing Coach is DISAPPOINTED N his Stand-Up Game as Well...He Doesn't Think Marcus Emphasizes BOXING Enough...REED has Seen his Short Ass OUTJAB 6'2 Guys, but N MMA, All he Does is WING Roundhouse Shots...

Fortunately, Marcus is his OWN Worst Critic...He'll Rewatch that Shit a Thousand Times & Improve...

Hicks will be back, and as long as the loss doesn't crush him mentally, and he continues to improve, he can be a champion in the future.

He has decent standup, and good subs, even if he does rely on the guillitine a little too much. And as he showed last night, if you're gonna KO him, you gotta hit him with everything you have. I don't see too many 1 punch KO losses for him.

He needs to work on defense when he gets hurt. When he ate those knees, he didn't know what to do, and he just kinda stood there, unable to get off himself, and ate shot after shot after shot.

But a big plus for him is he's an entertaining fighter, and there's always room for entertaining fighters.

You gotta admit, that was a pretty entertaining card. The Varner-Hicks fight was fun while it lasted. I personally think Hicks was a little spent from tossing Varner around and trying hard for the guillitine. I love the way Hicks grabbed under Varners leg on those knee attempts and tossed him to the ground.

The Condit fight was great in my opinion. Both guys exhausted and still firing. The stoppage was fine.

I've yet to be disappointed by a WEC card.
