This has probably been done before, I don't care. Jones fought a lot of his early fights at 154, and is obviously a much bigger guy than Floyd. Still, there is that little window where the fight is a mythical possibility, Jones was a phenom whilst Mayweather is the most technically sound boxer of the last however many decades. Lets say Roy is 8-0, he's fought no one of note yet and he's fighting the Mayweather of either the DLH or Cotto fight. Does Roy's freakish speed, power and size prove too much for Floyds experience and technical brilliance, or does Floyd manage to yet again find a way to win?

Really hard to call, at least in my opinion. Seems like one of those fights where the outcome would be obvious after looking at in retrospect.

I think Mayweather wins a close one something like 115-113. He'd frustrate an inexperienced Jones a lot and wouldn't take any chances because of Roy' speed and power. On the other hand i can just easily see Roy landing the kind of shot Mosley did and finishing off the job. Mayweather wouldn't be able to walk down Roy even if they were the same size.

You must be kidding. 154 lb Roy Jones Jr is enormous compared to the 154 lb Floyd (if he can even be called that) and much faster to boot. RJJ by KO.

I'd take Roy. Just too big and too fast.

I think that like Rigondeaux, Roy was SO good that professional experience wouldn't matter all that much when you have his abilities and size advantage. I can't see Floyd winning, even with technical skill and experience on his side.

Yeah but Roy wasn't a 31 year old man with 400 hundred amateur contests under his belt. I think Floyd would have a pretty significant psychological edge

Even if that is the case, I think Roy is too talented to NOT land something significant early on which provides encouragement and gets the confidence seeping in. Floyd won't have the power to hurt him and 36 minutes is a long time to try and prevent a young, bigger Roy Jones from hurting you, especially if you're trying to win.

You guys are nuts. A green Roy would still be far and away not only the biggest, fastest, hardest-hitting and strongest fighter Floyd has ever faced, but likely the best. He'd have 20 lbs on Floyd at fight night and his speed at this point of Floyd's career would be vastly superior. He could lay Floyd out with a single punch. Jones Jr was much more aggressive early in his career (168 & below), not many fighters went the distance with him. Floyd MIGHT make the distance due to his skill and experience, but I wouldn't bet on it. There is literally NOTHING he could do to Jones Jr to even make him think twice.

You could very well be right but i think you're simplifying it. Jones indeed would the fastest, strongest etc. but Mayweather would also be the smartest and best fighter defensively Roy fought in his career. Floyd can outscore experienced fighters, let alone greenhorns with only 8 pro fights.

Interesting matchup. Early Roy Jones was really raw, he was depending on his speed far too much wich made him look sloppy at times. As Hut siad, he wasn't a polished fighter at this stage of his career, more like a rough diamond. That's a thing Floyd, one of the most technical fighter I ever saw, could and would exploit. But still, you have to assume that sooner or later Roy's gonna catch him with something big, how Floyd handles it would pretty much dictate the winner. My guess is that he won't handel it very well. Roy by ko

    I'm with Hut

This is a kid with 8 pro fights yet to really come into his own... Floyd's craft and ring IQ overcomes the raw physical advanatages of the kid

Roy WASN'T Quite as "Green" or "Raw" as Some are Suggesting...He was a WORLD CLASS Amateur Fighter, After All...

It All Boils Down to SIZE, in REED's Opinion...w/Out Question, Floyd would Be THE Most Technically Proficient Fighter Roy's EVER Faced, but he'd Also Be 1 of the SMALLEST Guys Roy's Ever Faced (even a 154 Roy)...Whereas, Roy Would Be THE Most ATHLETIC Opponent Floyd's Ever had (by Leaps & Bounds) AND the Biggest, TALLEST, STRONGEST, FASTEST, Most POWERFUL, etc...

If an Old Sugar Shane Could Compromise Floyd's Legs a Bit, a YOUNG Roy Jones Puts Floyd on his Ass...A Young Roy Jones was a MURDEROUS Finisher...If/When he Hurt Floyd, he'd Get him OUT of there Shortly Thereafter...Roy's LENGTH Advantage & Exceptional WHEELS would Prevent Floyd from Sticking & Moving for 12 Full Rounds...

Floyd WOULD Get Hit & HURT @ Some Point...& when he Did, it'd Be his ASS...

This would be so interesting to see..

Floyd IMO one of the best technical fighters ever
Roy was a phenom...I think he was too big and fast and even Floyd couldn't beat him

Can't see Floyd winning, even at that stage of RJJ's career. Agree with the consensus that eventually Roy catches him with something big and that ends things.

I think Roy's speed would give Floyd problems and the fight will become a chasing game with Floyd trying to cut the ring. There's no way Roy falls for Floyd's counter traps and even if he does, Floyd's lack of power would entice Roy to take his chances and drop Floyd on his ass. That being said, I think Roy would win a clear UD with Floyd kissing the floor once or twice.

Only Way '54 Floyd Lasts 12 Rounds w/'54 Roy is if Floyd Puts Forth THE Most NEGATIVE Performance of His Career...And Even Then, it's a CLEAR UD Loss...

An OLD Sugar Shane HURT Floyd...An AGED Zab Judah Was Up 3-1 on Floyd After 4 Rounds...Unless Floyd RUNS for Dear Life, There's a 0% Chance of Him Lasting 12 w/a YOUNG, HUNGRY, AMBITIOUS Roy Jones...0%...

There's Weight Classes for a REASON Fellas...

REED Ain't Even Sure Floyd Beats Terry Norris @ '54, and Don King VETOED Roy vs. Norris When Roy was @ the Weight...
